Maybe Brandon Marshall takes his foot out of his ass and plays as his talent level indicates.

He just has way too much talent to be consumed in himself and his off the field issues.

A Manning To Marshall combo could be deadly.

Not sure if I want Manning in Miami....I would rather the Bills or Jets get him since their WRs are not really all that great.

The key to the Miami push is the owner. He's not the type to sit back and wait. The Dolphins used to own Miami and south Florida. Not the case now. Games against northeastern and midwestern teams are hardly even home games anymore as so many tickets are available to non-Dolphin fans.

This is the perfect chance for an owner needy to make a big splash. Signing Manning would make the Dolphins the biggest NFL story for the rest of the off season and into the regular season. Tickets sales would spike. Fan interest would grow. The Dolphins would suddenly become relative again after being absent for over a decade.

So you have an owner who would pay the price. A team that's as good if not better than most of the other candidates. Playing in Miami is as close to playing in a dome as you can get. He already has a home there.

I'm not happy about it, but I can't see a better place for him to land. This kind of move would make the AFCE one of the 2 toughest divisions in the league.

Given his desire for success, I'd say 'Zona is the ideal spot for instant playoff recognition.

He's going to be in a 3 horse race in the AFCE if he goes to Dolphins. With a new head coach. That's an iffy proposition. I refuse to buy into the belief that just adding him will put any team in the playoffs.

My fear would be the big hit. The defense will go after him to break him for good, bounty payment or not. I'd be pissed if I found out that a Patriot let up on a tackle because they didn't want to hurt Payton. I think that's why I'm not worried about him coming to the AFCE.

Part of me wonders if Irsay didn't release him so that he could get his last big guarantee before the neck fell apart completely, and **** over another team in the process. I hope I'm wrong, I enjoy watching him play.

If AFC South JAX had a rational owner they'd sign Manning. Upstage the Phins. Beat the Colts. Sell out the stadium. Win some games. Warm weather venue. And The Forehead would not have to face Eli.

2nd best for the owner would be to have Denvah sign PM and trade Tebow to his home area Jax. Sell out the stadium... at least until they started loosing lots of games.

Good year for him to go to Miami since the only road game other than the divisional opponents that could be a cold game is Cincy.

I'd definitely rule Washington out. Manning likes to run the offense his way, and I don't think Shanahan, who is old-school and a hardliner, is the type to grant that kind of autonomy.

As others have said, Manning would probably want to stay in a dome, or have dome-like weather. My bet is on Miami or Arizona. Another thought could be KC since they're so much under the cap and could easily afford a Manning-Garcon transplant.

I was thinking about it. Are Miami in another Daunte Culpepper/Drew Brees type of situation. Their options are QB is going for the established elite QB coming off a season ending injury or the young gun not as proven guy.

Now Manning is far better than Culpepper ever was. Brees also had a serious shoulder injury and far more established than Matt Flynn. But could the Dolphins still be making the wrong choice going for the elite guy with significant health questions over the young gun who ends up becoming an elite QB himself. An added wrinkle is that they also have the option to trade up to get RG3.

The Dolphins are going to make the decision to get Manning because Ross is a star f'er who likes the celebrity QB even though it will be impossible to know if he will even be a shell of his former self ever again. But the smarter long term move (possible short term move too) might be Matt Flynn or RG3.

Here is a senario that I thought about while driving and have not heard/seen anyone bring up.

Drew Brees is said to be "livid" about getting tagged. Things are not going well between him and the Saints regarding his contract.

So could it now be possible that the Saints take the tag off Brees and sign The Forehead? Brees will certainly find a home quickly, maybe the Fins will make up for past mistakes.

Manning gets to play in a dome, with a very good team and good receivers, and in his hometown.

Thoughts?

The specter of Bountygate looming over them makes this scenario a no for me.

Brees might be livid about the tag, should be more concerned about hamstringing the Saints when it comes to retaining some of his weapons and OL. But then again, his agent is...Tom Condon. So no, don't think that will work. I think Manning and Brees are both legacy guys like Brady and I don't think Brees wants to move on from his. And while Manning would have probably once considered NO a dream setting because they are his home team, displacing a member of the select fraternity probably wouldn't appeal to his sensibilities. Plus they are dealing with their own scandal that will cost draft picks. Not sure what to make of the reported aversion to being in the same conference as Eli, either. If that still trumps putting him in the best position to succeed afer being forced to start over with 3-4 years at best left in his career... heck of a sacrifice to make for brotherly love. I always sensed the NFCE was a non starter for that reason, but we're talking random liklihood of blocking each other out of a SB vs. direct competition for a division...

The Florida Sun Sentinal's Dolphins blogger is catching on. He's been saying all along that Maimi was the clear frontrunner as opposed to when Ross was trying to chase down top HC candidates as a dark horse. But now he is hearing things that lead him to question that frontrunner status. I believe they are the little engine driving the train to Manning market, because Condon knows Ross is a tool. He'd probably pay the most money and do it sight (throwing) unseen. Which will just ramp up the offers from the other more desirable contenders.

Miami might be viewed the front runner for Peyton Manning, but I consistently point out it is not a done deal. Kansas City has the juice.

Folks...I'm not Peyton Manning. Don't know what he's thinking or feeling. But I have been told he's NOT a big city guy. That's a fact.

RT @Joe_W_Dolphins: you advocate using a Top 10 pick on a pass rusher that averaged less than double digit sacks every year?»20 sacks needed

I've been told Peyton Manning is a small town guy, & isn't interested in circus style coverage. I also warned he misses NOTHING.

RT @phinsphan1013: do you believe what tv insider said Peyton chances coming here are dwindling because of the media chasing down» Yup.

Then there is the Denver possibility. As Brian Griese opined, Elway won 2 superbowls in his dotage. He and Manning talk the same language. He and Tebow don't.

The specter of Bountygate looming over them makes this scenario a no for me.

What could be a bigger distraction to the bounty story and make the fans feel better when the shoe drops, then to have Peyton Manning as their new QB?

I know Brees is well thought of in NO, but the spector if Manning, son of Archie, will just make that fan base go into heaven.

Normally, I would tend to agree about your 'fanbase going into heaven' statement in regards to Manning.

In the Brees era, what will make their fanbase 'go into heaven' is the extension of Drew Brees.

If Brees was somehow ousted for a 1/2 broken down Manning at this point, I think the city would go absolutely nuts.

Elway's got to be worried about the thought of another season with Tebow at the helm; despite whatever kind and forced words he will tell the media.

One of my best friends lives in New Orleans, and he is of the same opinion. We love Tom Brady here, but literally, there are tens (hundreds?) of thousands of people in New Orleans that believe that Drew Brees is the person most responsible for saving and revitalizing the city. He isn't just a favorite football player down there - he's legitimately a hero. And that's not a joke.

In many ways, rightfully so.

They should be in constant competition with Brees behind center, and I believe that eventually the N.Orleans front office will break down and pay him accordingly.

As we all know, that will likely lead to the departure of their "new" and latest best guard in the world (this yr's version) + maybe only one of the two WR's back, but that's the breaks when you have a top 3 NFL QB.

Remember when the Dolphins had first grabs to get Brees only to decide to sign up Culpepper ...that might have been the dumbest decision in NFL History.

I wonder if Miami is going to make the same mistake again this offseason and perhaps be late on getting Manning and signing someone like Flynn who I am not convinced is an NFL starting QB.

You could reverse the scenario and some would still wonder the same question.

Flynn may be the better prospect, looking at age + upside and durability. Manning may get you 2-3 more yrs. Flynn may be their potential QB of their future.

Get Manning in Miami and watch the hilarity as Wrecksie's fat, bulbous, echo chamber cranium explodes...
