Christmas is a pagan holiday too -- the Winter Solstice. Jesus was born in April according to Biblical scholars.

Yep - even the early chapters of the book of Matthew talks about how the shepherds in the field were working at the time of his birth. It would have been TOO cold for them to even be out there in the field, much less for 2 seconds, during the freezing months.

Why churches and seminaries do not see this, I don't know why - but OTOH, 99.99% of churches and seminaries are 501c3 entities yoked up with the government, so it's not like they have the final say on anything anymore. Did you know that part of being a 501c3 entity, they can NOT speak out against even PORNOGRAPHY? If any pastor of these churches say that just merely not endorsing any political candidate is the sole requirement for keeping their tax-exempt status, they are LYING. There are SEVERAL statutes, most of which are unbiblical.

The main point is the REASON they were watching the flocks at night: to protect newborn lambs from predators. Lambs are born in the spring.
