Well, the Broncos turned the ball over and the ref said "do over" - how can that NOT have something to do with the game ? How many plays do you expect the defense to have to make ?

Same could be said of any of the other Denver drives. Just stop one, and the Chargers win.

This game came down to execution, and the Norvettes failed to live up to their own hype. Plain. Simple. Fact.

I am NO fan of Denver, but they won this games without help from the Refs. All that is accomplished by focusing on the mis-calls is you are handing a crutch to the Chargers and their fans that distracts from the real reasons for the loss: Failure to execute, especially by the vaunted SD defense.

I just can't get upset about the ref blowing a call, even when it happens to the Patriots, which it does. It happens, and the way that a team reacts to it and either overcomes it or succumbs to it says a great deal about the caliber of both the players and the coaching staff.

Respects,
Those are just dumb statements and are not accurate. It was 3rd down with less then a minue left, Denver Fumbled, and SD recovered, but the blown call gave Denver the ball back on the 10 with one more shot at the TD.

Sure, they executed it, but they never should have had the opportunity too. That is just the plain facts of the matter.

Adapt, execute, overcome. Simple. Straight forward.

Regardless of the calls the refs made (and I absolutely agree that Ed blew that call) it still came down to SD stopping the Broncos. They had two chances to stop them, both at the TD and the 2-PT conversion. Stopping either would've won the game for the Chargers. Had the defemse done their job, Denver would not have won.

No amount of complaining about the refs can overcome poor play by the Charger Defense. SD needs to man up and accept the blame for the loss, and not be using the refs as a crutch to ameliorate their poor execution.

Respects,

that's about right...i was watching that live on tv and couldn't believe it...at least he admitted his mistake, but i don't think we'll see Ed in the post season this year...and i doubt he'll ref another Chargers game for a long, long time...worst call i've seen in years.

i did have a slightly different take on shanahan's decision...i thought there was almost a schoolyard element to it..."ok, we both know that this game should be over, but you got effed by the ref, now i'll put the game on the line, straight up between us...you stop us, you win; you don't, you lose..."

I think Shanahan is still one of the very best coaches in the league. Unfortunately for Denver he's not one of the very best personnel men in the league, and doesn't seem to realize it.

That was pretty impressive by Shanny AKA The Rat but you know if they didnt convert it he would have gotten destroyed by the fans and media. It was exciting gotta give props to the Donkeys, but that was soooo a fumble by Culter.
Yeah. Cutler even came out after the game and admitted that it was a fumble. Oh well. It's San Diego and I can't exactly say that this could have happened to a better team. Full of whiners but at least they actually deserve to whine this time around.

The Chargers got hosed on that call and part of me does think that Shanahan went for 2 to give them a chance to stop it, but logically I think it's more likely that he wanted to catch the Chargers still mad and take advantage of them not thinking straight and win the game instead of going to OT and possibly never touching the ball. Most teams I'd feel bad for but it's the Chargers so F 'em.

The officials blow the whistle too early all the damn time. Lay off Ed, at least he had the balls to man up & say he ****ed up. He could of easily said the play on the field was ruled a forward pass & the reply was inconclusive to cover his ass.

When is the last time you've seen an NFL official admit a mistake, usually they act infallable even on the most blatant bad calls.
