re: The Patriots rookies

They're going to get thrown into their first really big fire on Saturday. All three of Collins, Ryan, and Thompkins might or will see a high snap count. I know Collins will. Ryan will depending on what Dennard's condition is (he was limited this week) and Thompkins might depending on the game plan. Hopefully Gregory stays healthy so we don't have to see Harmon and hopefully Dobson gets healthy for the AFCCG in the event that the Pats win.

Re: The Patriots rookies

That's a wonderful piece! Well done and good mix with the videos alongside.

Nice to see a ray of hope for journalism.

The vast majority of the contributors and best players on this team are young... bar Brady, some of the OL and Wilfork/Kelly

RB - Ridley (24), Vereen (24), Blount (27), Bolden (23)
WR - Dobson (22), Thompkins (25), Boyce (23), Edelman (27), Amendola (28)
TE - Gronk (24)
OL - Wendell (27), Solder (25), Mankins (31), Connolly (31), Vollmer (29)
DL - Jones (23) , Jones (23), Vellano (25), Siliga (23), Ninkovich (29), Wilfork (32), Armstead (23)
LB - Collins (24), Hightower (23), Spikes (26), Mayo (27), Fletcher (27)
DB - Ryan (22), Dennard (24), Talib (27), Arrington (27), McCourty (26), Gregory (31), Harmon (22)

So if you say we keep Edelman, Talib, Blount. Cut Spikes and Kelly. Draft a young TE and OL guy.

Average age of O - 27.3
Average age of D - 24.1

That has got to be one of the youngest average ages (25.7) in the NFL. The best part is, everyone of those players have proven at one time another to be at least good/solid players (bar Armstead).

The future is bright

2nd youngest in the league behind the packers.

We also have the youngest incarcerated Tight End in the NFL costing us $7.5 million in cap space next year.

Accomplishments have many faces.

On the up side, look at that $7.5 million as a charitable contribution to the Crime Victims Fund.

Our youth and rebuilding process has been nothing short of completely remarkable. I actually don't think this gets enough attention.

With the draft once again approaching, and the (hopeful) continued progress of our 1st and 2nd yr players, we are in fine shape...actually, very good shape.

The "problem" if you will, would be the lack of one/two other players who may provide some veteran leadership, but that was a direct problem caused by the injuries to Wilfork, Kelly, Spikes, Mayo, A.Wilson, Gronkowski, etc. There actually may be too much youth for the specific 2013 team, although that is going to set us up in a great way for the future.

If he ends up getting charged with the double homicide like I think he will be, that number may be able to be cut into a bit, since he signed his pact after the double murders took place. I'm not sure about the specifics of the contractual issues, but I do know that the double homicide case is picking up steam.

They now have the murder weapon itself, the SUV at the crime scene, 2 different street cameras that showed them circling the block from the garage when the victims were coming to the light, the guy in the back seat's testimony, and 2 other people who were getting off work who saw their SUV at the exact same time. On top of that they have a CURE nightclub worker who called them with information, who claims that he heard everything from someone "who spilled the beans" while he was at work, so there are others involved. This isn't even bringing up Alexander Bradley, who was the person with Hernandez that night either driving or firing shots from the back seat.

They are obviously still in the process of attempting to indict him via the grand jury, but they also recently received a warrant to go through all of the phone calls from jail from a few months ago when Bradley was jailed for the contempt of court charge. The probable cause they had to go through the taped phone calls was a tip from one of the jail guards, who claims to have heard him discussing the case on the phone calls.

If they do indeed find something on those tapes, it's one step closer to the indictment. That could be one step closer to the Pats recovering some of that lost money for 2014.
