* Ye Official 2012 Mock Draft Thread!! *

1a Dont'a Hightower LB Alabama
1b Mark Barron SS Alabama
2a Andre Branch DE/OLB Clemson
2b Billy Winn DE/DT Boise St
3 Mike Brewster OC Ohio St.
4 George Iloka FS Boise State

Load up on the Defense. The Pats need a strong safety and also a free safety in later rounds. If the Pats can get Brandon Llody than the offense can survive but the DL/OLB/DB needs substantial improvement.

I like it alot. If only we could swap Upshaw for Hightower it would fit our needs perfectly imo

Walter has a 4 rounder out today.

2012 NFL Mock Draft - WalterFootball.com

1a Jerel Worthy - DT - Michigan St
1b Mark Barron - S - Alabama
2a Brandon Jenkins - DE/OLB - Fla St - Already announced returning to FSU.
2b Dwight Jones - WR - UNC
3 Brian Quick - WR - App ST
4 Ryan Steed - CB - Furman

Don't like this at all. Worthy is way too up/down. I like Barron, but we need a FS Centerfielder type. He seems similiar to Chung. Jenkins isn't eligible. Two big wr's? Doubt it.
A lot of our binkies are gone. Which is good. Makes a projection more realistic. Stick with 4-3. How bout this instead?

1a Chase Minnifield - CB - Virginia

1b Dontari Poe - DT - Memphis

2A Vinny Curry - DE - Marshall

2b Markelle Martin - S - Oklahoma St

3 Nigel Bradham - OLB - Florida St

4 Jarius Wright - WR - Arkansas

Too much defense? Nah. I would re-up Koppen to take care of C. Maybe sign B. Lloyd to take over 2nd wr and Godson for FS.

PACKED with Defense!! LOVE this Mock!! :rocker:

1a - S mark barron
1b - C pete konz
2a - DE/OLB whitney mercilus
2b - FS robert lester
3 - - WR marvin mcnutt
4 - DE/OLB Jake Bequette

thinking is that barron gives the pats opponents someone to fear in the middle of the field

konz will load up the OL for the future.

mercilus is obvious though they may need to move up a few picks to get him, but someon elike him will likely fall (ingram?)

lester completes the longet term prospects in the middle of the field. a rotation of chung, barron, lester will make the CB's the pats have much better

mcnutt I think give thepats solid depth at WR

bequette I believe is a good prospect as a DE/OLB hybrid....good size/speed to work with and effective in the SEC .... good value, I believe

Konz and Mercilus were gone. That's why I didn't pick them. Was going by what's left on the board. Makes it a little trickier.

understood......based on the way that draft goes,

1a - DE/DT worthy

1b - S mark barron

2a - DE/OLB vinny curry

2b - S robert lester

3 - C mike brewster

4 - DE/OLB jake bequette

Defense and Grizzlies!! BEAUTIFULL!!

One of the side benefits of a porous D: many posters are INTO it!!

Lester's out, now, of course...

This is what I would like the draft to look like. Addressing the Defense and WR core. I Do not think that Branch will be back. I also do not feel that Center is as big a need as others, so I did not address it

1a. Hightower-I think he will be a 3-4 SOLB or 3-4 SILB. If Spikes gets healthy then Hightower will OLB.

1b. Cox-Can play 4-3 DT or 3-4 DE (5 tech). He is not as stout against the run as I would like, but he has a huge amount of potential.

2a. Minnifield- I am not as down on the CB's as others are, but I am down on the Safety's. By drafting Minnifield it will allow one of the current CB's to play FS. I think we will see alot of McCourty at FS against Denver tomorrow.

2b. Dwight Jones- Big target at WR. I think that the pats need at least one big WR. He has inconsistent hands, but runs good routes and can stretch the field.

3. McClellin- Very explosive off the ball and uses his hands very well. Has played DE, OLB and ILB for Boise St. I think he would be a dynamic OLB for us. My #1 BINKY or man crush

4. Jarius Wright- very fast and shifty. Will eventually play in the slot.

Please give feedback and opinions as to where you think this mock could be improved.

As the signature member of the Hightower fan club (or so I convince myself), I like it a lot. Not thrilled with Dwight Jones (would prefer Brian Quick) nor Chase Minnifield (Stephon Gilmore here) but if that was the draft, I'd be very happy. Nice picks.

I really like the individual analyses.

McClellin is a favorite of mine, my first Binky from early on...

Sorry.

Just had to get that out'f my system.

I like dliverey's picks alot as well. Even if we don't land those exact players, I like the positions that he targeted.

His 1st pick-Hightower. Can play multiple positions and I feel that lb is one of our weakest areas that needs to be addressed. We need to get rid of guyton and koutivides. Tarp and Spikes have somewhat been injured prone and even though I actually like Tracy White, you never know how long he will stay with our team considering his age factor vs a rookie.

Your 2nd pick-Cox. Athletic and fills a need. I am pretty sure we are going to drop one/both gerrad warren and shaun ellis. You also can't count on mike wright, myron pryor, or brace to remain healthy.

Your 3rd-Minniefield. Im not as high on him as others but when don't we need a cornerback and I believe it is better to draft a versatile cb than to reach for a safety in this weak class.

4th-Dwight Jones. Looks like a talented receiver that we could really use. Besides welker, our wideouts(not tes) could use some huge upgrades.

5th-McClellin. I love him. Hes currently my third favorite rusher behind brandon jenkins and nick perry. Hes versatile and we could use a pass rusher.

6th-Wright. Speedy wideout. Once again the play of ocho, branch, etc makes this a pretty good pick.

What number is our 1a pick from the Saints? Do we need to wait for tomorrow's games?

I believe its likely to be 28, though it could be 27 if the Giants beat GB tommorrow.

Yeah. It's 28. It can move up one spot with a Texans win, and another spot with a Giants win.

Here's my mock. I view our first rounders as un-tradeable so here goes:

1A. Best Player Available (Konz, Minnifield, a WR that drops (Floyd?))
1B. Best Player Available (Konz, Minnifield, a WR that drops (Floyd?))
2A. Jared Crick - DE - Nebraska
2B. Brandon Lindsey - OLB - Pittsburgh

I would like the Pats to get a big WR. I debated between Jones, Quick and Streeter. I went with Jones because I feel he runs better routes and has a better burst and long speed, but Quick has better hands. I would be happy with Quick. I think Gilmore is a better CB, but I do not think he will be available.

I am curious if folks think that with the play of Sterling Moore we stand pat with our back 4? Especially with Dowling, who I think will be a stud, coming back next year.

I have another binky I would like opinions on. He is going to be a late pick or UDFA. Levasier Tuinei WR from Oregon. He is 6-4 or 6-5 and 215 LBS, great hands.

Yeah. It's 28. It can move up one spot with a Texans win, and another spot with a Giants win.

Baltimore had 12 wins. NO won 13. If they lose, they pick before NO pick. The highest we can pick is 27th if GB loses.
