Who knows, you may end up being right about Hernandez. There's no guarantee he plays this week.

I'm not so sure that's true of the general public. I think breaking a big story is much bigger than flubbing a small story. We just have long memories around here.

Unless you are Woodward and Bernstein, the big news story usually totally eclipses the reporter who broke it. When you mess up on a story no matter how big it is, you are bigger than the story.

Think back. Do you remember who broke the Monica Lewinsky story or Abu Ghrabi or the killing of Bin Ladin or any other major news story in the last few decades? I sure don't. Everyone remembers columnists and reporters like Mike Barnacle, Patricia Smith, and Ron Borges for plagiarism though. John Tomase will always be remembered for the Rams walktrough incident.

The media around here LOVES putting a negative spin on a story...maybe that's why when it proves incorrect, the media member gets lots of grief for it.

Example: Hernandez out up to 6 weeks!

Truth: Hernandez has a knee sprain and may be out anywhere from three to six weeks.

Stop sensationalizing the stories! Just REPORT. The only person who REPORTS on a consistent basis is Mike Reiss. The rest just love getting their agenda driven spin on a story. Oh boy, look at me, I got scoop! 'gimme a break.

BTW, why does John Tomasse still have a job in this town? The man should be tarred, feathered and lynched. That ugly fat d-bag is the biggest joke of a scribe I have ever seen. Walk-thru...Red Sox: greatest team every assembled...even his predictions/prognosis SUCK. What kind of a company (Herald) keeps this baboon on the payroll?

To me, our local media has tendency to deserve that negative feedback. To much sensationalism, to many snarky, arrogant digs at our sports teams, players, and even fans. Thats why if there is a chance to get some digs back at them, we're usually all to eager to give them some comeuppance.

Rightfully so, in my opinion, because the media has the power to shape public opinion, and to many times they let there own personal biases' into the message.

For a John Tomase example. I live in North Carolina, outside the freindly confines of New England. As a Patriot fan, all I ever hear about is that the Patriots are cheaters, that filmed the walkthrough before the Super Bowl. Thats what people remember. Not the retraction, or apology for the false report.

So, if you think it's unfair that Tomase is only remembered for that story, I say good.
