World Cup Thread.

Brady is in the building with Gisele according to the announcers.

They are actually controlling the game a bit more than Argentina yet, thanks to a couple blunders, Argentina has had 3 incredible scoring opportunities and failed to convert. Strange game.

I was thinking that the longer this impasse continues, the more it has to favor Germany who is the more disciplined team, and more willing to let this go down to the wire.

At this point I don't think Argentina has the energy to score in extra time and their best bet is a shootout, which is a lousy way to end a world cup, it's the last game they should allow unlimited subs and go until someone scores.

Argentina has really played a great game defensively.

Sh.t.

Beautiful goal, well deserved.

Well deserved. The best and most deserving team won the cup.

Congrats Germany! !!

You see it in the NFL - getting hot at the right time, and so it proved with Germany who had been pretty unimpressive between the Portugal game onwards. They were excellent against France in the quarter final though, demonstrating hugely solid foundations, and from there always looked the most likely winners. If you hammer Brazil in their own backyard, you deserve to win just about anything.

Congrats to them. Commiserations to Argentina and Leo.

Until a minute ago . . .

Beautiful goal, that's the way it should end imo. The better team won and really the team that had the best tournament took home the trophy. Fantastic job by bRazil hosting a great world cup. I loved every minute of it even though I was hoping Argentina would win it all.

With any luck that's the last we will see of that POS Blatter.

Incredible to think that Germany won this without Reus, Gundogan, the Bender twins, Schmelzer and Badstuber. Crazy.

Germany had the better of the game, although Argentina had three excellent chances. I think that they really missed Khedira, though. Apart from the odd cross, they couldn't find any way to open up the Argentinians, despite all of the possession they had. But no one could argue with the goal. Great determination and cross from Müller; great finish. I think that the game was well refereed -- the linesmen spotted the clear but marginal off-sides and, though a couple of Argentinians could have been sent off for second yellows, I can understand that he wanted to turn a blind eye at that stage.

Where was Giselle? I watched the whole post game thinking she was going to present the World Cup trophy. Was she in the line of stewardess looking girls behind everybody?

The only thing I disagree with is the goalie, Imo it was Howard, although Neuer certainly had a great tourney.

Howard had one great game. He was well down the line - I'd have picked, Navas, Ospina, Bravo, Ochoa and Benaglio ahead of him. At least.

Howard should be nowhere near the top

He had 1 great game..that's it

I loved watching it, but i thot the victory celebration coverage was somewhat deflating. Victors (and losers) should not have to wait around all that time after the elation, hugs etc. and then walk up several flights of stairs to get an award. Seemed weird (am an occasional viewer, obviously)

And those additional end-minutes make you wonder when the hell does Germany get to win.

Disagree completely, Howard kept them in every game and they were overmatched in every game. gi ven your take on him as opposed to everyone else who watched the tournament I am starting to think you have a bias against him from the EPL.
