Woody Johnson Clear Cut Tampered Re: Revis

I brought this up, and no one responded. Nothing is going to happen, and if anything happens it will be minor at best.

Except that it wasn't close to the same thing. Nice try, though. OH. And Jerry Jones hadn't been reprimanded for tampering in the past 9 months when it had happened..

I haven't trolled in this thread. Asking for a first round pick swap is unreasonable, it's really simple as that.

'Oh, but I'm being SERIOUS in this thread'.

You don't get to choose which threads you are going to honestly post in.

If you troll in one thread, you lose all credibility here. You are not doing "Method Acting". Kapische?

It is not OUR responsibility to figure out which threads you are putting on your serious hat and which threads you are havingfun with the trolling.

You are who you are. Be honest and live with it, troll.

If you were a fan of a serious team that is not a laughingstock, you would have been banned months ago. You are only here because it is a "Mouse That Roared" situation and we are having fun with you.

How many times do I have to say this? I don't care about Spygate, and you were cleary trying to change the subject, because I was telling IVAN that it would be unreasonable for the league to strip the Jets of their first round pick, because of Woody Johnson's behavior . I never once said, that the Jets should not be punished, however, I do believe that asking the league to strip the Jets of a top five pick is unreasonable .

How many times do you have to be told that I wasn't trying to change the subject. Please stop telling me what I was trying to do. You aren't intelligent enough to understand what I was trying to do. You have proven that beyond a shadow of a doubt.

As for what is unreasonable, your opinion doesn't matter one iota to the league. Not one.

Well, I haven't trolled in weeks. And I've stayed away from the , Jets Suck thread , for the most part.

BlueThunder, you have people here asking for a first round swap. You guys really aren't any better. Both sides are going to be biased.

When the Pats violated a rule that they'd been issued a letter on they were penalized a 1st round pick. How is the situation with Johnson different? Please explain that..

And your opinion doesn't matter to the league as well. SpyGate was seven years ago, let it go. Your team has experienced has great success since Spygate.

Jets owner Woody Johnson violated the NFL’s tampering rules today when he made comments about wanting Patriots cornerbackDarrelle Revis to return to New York. Now Johnson is trying to walk back those comments.

In a statement issued by the team, Johnson said he hadn’t meant to say what he said about Revis.

“I misspoke today when I commented on Darrelle Revis,” Johnson said. “I would never interfere in the contractual relationship of a player with another team and should not have used those words. I called Robert Kraft this afternoon to emphasize those points.”

It remains to be seen whether Kraft has accepted Johnson’s explanation, and it remains to be seen whether the league office has anything to say about Johnson’s comments. But Johnson appears to have learned a valuable lesson: It’s best to keep your mouth shut when it comes to talking about a player under contract to another team.

Pft

Someone told that 'tard that the comments he made were tampering. He honestly had no clue. That seems to be an ongoing theme with the Jets.

I have a bad feeling that Kraft is so magnanimous that he will accept this apology and fail to press for sanctions. Which is a shame.

One more 1st rounder could have been the difference in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013.

If you're Darrelle Revis are you happy with the league telling you that you cannot sign with a particular team?

I don't think the league can legally do that.

The NBA voids deals between teams and hasn't been dragged into court, but not the signing of free agents. The key here is that Revis is under contract for 2014 and 2015. He doesn't become an unrestricted free agent until 2016 unless the Patriots cut him and his $25 million total cap number for 2015.

Does anyone else remember when Jerry Reese said his team would explore Willis McGhee before Free Agency even began?

Yep.. As a matter of fact, I do..

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2778174

Different situation. The Bills were shopping McGahee at the combine to gauge interest. Not even remotely close to commenting on a player that is still under contract with games to be played...

Who is trying to change the subject now?

The reality is that the NFL, in the past, has punished tampering teams by taking away a draft pick and forcing a draft pick swap with the injured part, in addition. Therefore, we aren't discussing something that's fantasy. We're discussing which round draft pick(s) would be appropriate under the particular circumstances currently involved.

I'd say the #6 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft would smooth things over nicely, wouldn't you?

How can you call other fanbases delusional when you're asking for a first round
pick swap? BTW I didn't dislike yournpost, because of the Jones story.

First off, troll, you have no right or privilege here to "Dislike" ANYONE'S posting on THIS board.

I am PM'ing Ian now to have that right taken away from you.

If you do that again, you will be banned immediately.

This is NOT your living room, get your damn feet off our couch.

The bottom line on this is whether Kraft has the guts to support BB anthe Pats or is back to playing servant to goodell and his beloved Jets

So, we're just supposed to forget that the Jets Organization screwed the Patriots organization over and the fact that it cost the Patriots a 1st round draft choice? The fact that the Jets turned the Patriots in for doing the same thing that the Jets had done the previous year and weren't reprimanded for despite the Patriots turning them in to the league?

BTW, the league's punishment set a precedent in what the punishment should be for a team that violates the rules the league has recently pointed out to them. So, you whining about people bringing up Cameragate (it wasn't spying, so calling it "Spygate" is a misnomer) shows that you really should just go away. Why? Because you aren't capable of understanding the conversation, let alone bring anything to it.
