Re: Willie Andrews Aressted on marijuana possession

I don't think driving while black an arrestable defense in Lowell. Sounds like he was set up. Probably by whomever sold him his stuff. Maybe a disgruntled fan who bet the over. $6800 isn't a lot to have on you when you likely received your $40K superbowl check on your way out of the desert. That said, they probably have enough on him to force a plea to simple posession, and he's likely done here as a result.
Who knows what really happened..what the REAl story is..it does seem like some set up..seems like they ran the plates..and then pulled him over..WHO called the police? But it may be his last days here..and that is sad..he had a LOT of potential..

It was probably his friend's weed, who borrowed his car during the Superbowl week...

Re: Willie Andrews Aressted on marijuana possession

Sigh. Did you read the article?

Someone saw a nice car driving around the neighborhood.

so they called the police.

Jeez, do you think he was waving the drugs out his window at all the neighbors? Please.

Uhh...a Ford Crown Vic is a "nice car"?

If he was unregistered, a simple laptop check of the plates would reveal that...game over.

And people call the police all the time for suspicious vehicles...especially if they are tinted out.

Re: Willie Andrews Aressted on marijuana possession

How is that intent?

7 oz and a lot of cash makes him a dealer?

You've just described half the NFL.

Individually packaged for sale.

Done deal.

Probably just a fine though, depending on his history.

Re: Willie Andrews Aressted on marijuana possession

He didn't have a license with him.

It's happened to me before.

I went to court and the judge wrote it off as nothing. I wasn't even fined.

No, that is "No License in Possession."

If they are saying "Driving without a License", it means he is unlicensed, a criminal offense and arrestable.

Is this isn't the first time for Willie:

http://www.bostonherald.com/blogs/s.../andrews-had-seemingly-learned-from-his-past/

Andrews was arrested in his hometown of Longview, Texas, the summer before his freshman year of college when his car stalled on the highway and a trooper found a .25 caliber pistol in the trunk.

Andrews was already on two years probation for a criminal mischief conviction and was sentenced to 30 days in jail, serving 10 before beginning Baylor’s preseason workouts.

“That gave me my first sense of being in the real world, when your parents can’t do anything for you and you have to face your actions and be a man,” Andrews said. “It was really a turning point for me and helped get me where I am today.”

Although his jail stay was brief, Andrews saw all he needed of repeat offenders career criminals who drifted in and out of prison.

“I didn’t want to be in their position and go back there,” he said. “That was really eye opening.”

It was also a long time ago.

“That was high school, before college,” Andrews said. “I’ve been a clean slate – I’ve never flunked a drug test and I’ve barely gotten a ticket. Discipline hasn’t been an issue. I’ve been on the right path ever since.”

Can't say that anymore now.

I thought he had a BIT of a history..but more imature..and such..We shall see what happens....not sure exactly what did..the intent to sell might be a stretch..

Nope.
As I said, I had to appear in court for driving without a license.
I had to prove I had a license to get out of it.
Do you think my license was in some police database? It wasn't.

I have no clue what you are talking about, but in Mass "Driving without a License" is Ch 90-10, a criminal offense aka Unlicensed Operation.

"No License in Possession" is CH 90-11, a $35 fine.

Here, I'll say it again. I was stopped without a license in possession. The cop gave me a summons and fine for "Driving Without a License." I went to court and showed the judge my license, and it was expunged. I spoke to the prosecutor afterward, and he told me it was standard procedure because they had no way of knowing whether someone has a license or not.

They make it sound like he's a crystal meth dealer... a "Half Pound" sounds so much worse than 7 oz, no?

Unfortunately its not sounding good for the guy if he's got a prior... I wonder if a few of those bags were bound for his teammates... that wouldn't bother me in the least... they should all get a chance to kick back with a fattie or two.

ANDREWS (ALLEGEDLY) HAD A HALF-POUND OF POT

The potential problems for Patriots defensive back Willie Andrews are slightly more serious that first believed.

Andrews wasn't simply busted for possession of marijuana. He had three bags of it, and no means to smoke it.

As a result, he has been charged with possession with intent to distribute.

Ironically, Andrews previously told John Tomase of the Boston Herald that a 10-day stint in jail had scared him straight.

"That gave me my first sense of being in the real world, when your parents can't do anything for you and you have to face your actions and be a man," Andrews said after being drafted in 2006. "It was really a turning point for me and helped get me where I am today. I didn't want to be in their position and go back there. That was really eye opening."

Before too long, Andrews could be getting a thorough refresher course.

He'll probably get cut, but c'mon. It's the offseason, and if smoking a joint is what he needed to unwind, then I really don't care.

Stuff should be legal anyway.

Ummmmmmm, not that I have a huge problem with it either, but I'd say a 1/2 pound is a little more than a fatty or two to unwind

Half pound? ****, that changes things slightly. I don't begrudge anyone their stash, but what's an NFL player doing dealing? At the very least use your leech friends for something useful, for a change.
