If Moses retires, these may be one-year options.

Anyone else ready to admit our secondary blows yet?

Anyone else ready to admit we have no depth behind Hightower and Collins yet?

Getting carved by the ****ing Giants.

This reminds me of 2011. Good enough for the regular season, points allowed stats look great, but everyone knows this secondary can be picked on.

The CBs have had some tough catches caught on them. Sometimes the WR and QB just make good plays. Why are you so keen to be right about the Patriots defense being bad?

I'm not keen to be right.
Everyone's excuse is always "but our CB was sooooo close to making the play."
Being close isn't any better than not being close of the play is made.

Ask Odell Beckham how our CB play sucked. Apart from one fluke play where our star safety misplayed it into a long TD Beckham was pretty much shut down by Butler.

Face it, most of the game Butler was a shutdown corner handling Beckham one on one in man coverage. Not too shabby.

I don't know what game you are watching. Butler and Ryan have been solid. It is after them that is a concern.

The defense played decently today, at least they kept us in the game when we couldn't do much in the 2nd and 3rd QT...
Butler had overall a good game, but the rest of the secondary...well we need to address these gaping holes because if we face Cincy in the playoffs we will be in trouble against the likes of their receivers.

Other than that, our run D played well today, the linebackers did good, and also I was happy to see Mayo finally getting some snaps in there...Freeney at times was struggling badly. I hope we get Collins back soon, but Mayo is definitely a solid backup when we need him.

How happy was this dude when he thought we were going to lose because of her defense?

There are exactly 0 offenses that scare me. This defense is more than good enough.

We gave up 31 points at home to Baltimore in the playoffs last year but the defense came up with clutch plays to help us win. No different than what this defense has done all season long.

The corners blow, outside of Butler, and most people have acknowledged that throughout at least most of the year.

The corners are not the entire defense.

Your initial argument still sucks.

First rule of holes.

Oh, btw - 4th in PPG allowed. Slipped only slightly to 13th in yards/game allowed.

Giants were a top 5 offense in terms of PPG.

Just checked a bunch of defensive metrics for curiosity's sake (DVOA, PPG, points/drive, TO/drive, SRS, passer rating).

We're pretty much a slight bit better in every single category than we were last year.

I think a lot of people were extremely frustrated watching yesterday's game, myself included. But I think OP is getting carried away by it all.

Beckham had the huge catch thanks to a terrible angle by McCourty, and that did expose an issue with the deep ball. 207 of Eli's 361 yards came on 5 deep passes. But even including those completions, Eli only completed 55% of his passes, and the defense also locked down in the red zone, holding the giants to 1/5 for TDs, including a huge hold at the end of the game.

Here's the weirdest part about the OP's rant though.

2014 - 344.1 YPG, 239.8 Passing/104.3 Rushing YPG, 19.6 PPG

2015 - 343.8 YPG, 255.6 Passing/88.2 Rushing YPG, 18.2 PPG

And those 2014 figures include the late-season improvement. Here's the first 9 games of 2014:

Games 1-9 of 2014 - 355.1, 235.0 Passing/120.1 Rushing YPG, 22.0 PPG

Obviously teams are attacking us more through the air, as they should. But dig a bit deeper and it really isn't that much different.

2014 - 59.6% completion, 35.9 attempts per game, 7.2 YPA, 34.1% 1st downs, 84.0 RAT

2015 - 61.1% completion, 39.7 attempts per game, 7.0 YPA, 35.6% 1st downs, 84.8 RAT

These are pretty minor differences despite losing a HOF corner and another starter.

If the OP feels so passionate about this case, why wasn't he making it last year when the numbers were virtually identical?

If my math is correct, aside from the one huge TD, Beckham was held to 3 catches for 17 yards.

I don't care! I can't stand it!
