Slightly odd, but… they only have one practice this week and then several days off. They may have felt it wiser to have a regular practice and then come up with a plan for the new starter over the next several days, then begin executing that plan when everyone returns.

Or maybe I’m just coping.
The painful and frustrating reality is BB has given himself no good options. Embrace the tank.

Like why?? Dysfunctional Patriots how to ruin a Young QB 101.
I wouldn't read anything into it right now. This is a bye week

With this aged game has passed me by BB wouldn't put it far from him.

And I will also embrace his departure at seasons end which can't come soon enough now ridiculous.

What a friggin clown show if he actually does start again.

Even though it wont happen Id like the idea of cunningham starting. It would probably be pretty ugly at first (which might even help us lose in ny) but might as well see if you can run that type of offense here if it gets better over time. Since we don’t know if we’ll ever land another top wideout again lol. Starting mac, zappe , grier has very little use right now with mac being the least use.

Also Foles beat Belichick not Brady. No explanation is necessary.
False... QB's are all the matter, you've already set the ground rules, don't change them now.
TB12 is the GOAT. He gets any the benefit of the doubt. Always and forever. He's earned it.

In 2006 if Bill's defense didn't blow a big lead in the dome in the AFC Championship game, Tom has one more ring
In 2007 if Bill's defense makes a stop at the end, Tom has one more ring and an undefeated season.
In 2011 if Bill's defense makes a stop at the end, Tom has one more ring.
In 2017 if Bill well you know... Tom also has one more ring.

Mac shill!

I can accept that Bill is a losing coach post Brady, he was never an offensive savant and minus Brady his limitations on offense are apparent and today's game is all about offense. It is what it is. He is a defensive guy though so there shouldn't be any excuses for his defense choking or coming up small a bunch of times in big moments over the years. The greatest QB who ever lived ought to have a lot more rings than he does.

He needs to find a QB, that much is evident. If he needed to find a punter, I'd say that also.

Facts aren't your friend...

Facts actually suck for you...

The Patriots have used pick #15 twice on quarterbacks in their franchise history. If Mac Jones does not play again this year, the first three playing season's results are creepy:

Player:_________ Games Started_______Yards_____Touchdowns____Interceptions
Mac Jones _____________ 41______________8,829 _________46____________34
Tony Eason ____________ 37______________8,712__________53____________35

By these metrics, other than interceptions, Eason was the significantly better quarterback. And he did this in an era where receivers could be mangled and quarterbacks were fair game to be mutilated, unlike today where the game is heavily weighted in favor of offenses.

Oh yes, Eason was horrible. What does that say about Mac? Please reply and tell me if the numbers lie....

Is Eason available to start in two weeks?

Honestly, does it matter? Mac and Zappe won't be here for sure next year. Curious to give Grier a go to see if he's worth keeping around in any capacity.

Defensive support....The funny thing about this chart is it, only uses one stat. Points per game, which can go up or down based on what the offense does funny enough. If your offense is moving the ball, converting 3rd downs, not turning the ball over, having long drives, keeping the defense off the field, guess what you are doing? Keeping the other teams score down. This chart does not take into account, sacks, turnovers, yards, time of posession, grades, etc. It uses one stat. If you want to show a good defense from a points standpoint, show me one that does not give up a lot of points despite a crappy offense.

Points is the most important stat in football, points is how they determine wins and losses.

“Points per drive” is a better stat to isolate defense alone. But “total points allowed” shows competence in defense, also special teams and even offense a little bit. It shows total team competence.

From 2014-2016 Drew Brees led the NFL in passing and was tops in scoring and efficiency… his defense ranked 32nd in points allowed. The Saints won 7 games three years in a row.

Tom Brady never dealt with that ^ level of defense on the Patriots or Bucs… not close to it.

Brady consistently had better teams around him. That’s a fact.

I agree. He needs to find a QB. Mac isn't the guy. Neither is Zappe. Grier is a total unknown who is 28 years old and hasn't played since 2019 so it's safe to assume he won't be either. Too bad Bill can't identify offensive talent maybe he would have picked Sam Howell for a late round QB instead of Zappe... and we probably wouldn't have a QB problem right now.

And the Patriots offense averaged 5th in offensive PPG ranking per year during Brady's tenure making that chart meaningless.

Always amazing to me to see Pats fans turn into other teams fans making excuses for Brady's success.

You’re a hypocrite…

You’re a hypocrite…
You're not going to look for a chart showing how Brady's average offensive PPG ranking (5) during his time in NE compares to those other QB's on your chart? That's understandable I guess.

Also worth pointing out that once Brady left the Pats dropped to 27th in the league in PPG on offense. I wonder what changed.

How does that make me a hypocrite. Just presenting facts.

You suggesting complementary offense can make a defense top ranked in the league is the height of stupidity.

Like I said above, we can look at “points per drive” to isolate defense… the Patriots almost always had good or great defenses with Brady… outside of maybe 2002.
