Will Fred Taylor be back this season?

Fred Taylor looked amazing during preseason. Also, remember that 40+ yard run he broke off during the Jets game but it was taken back because Tate was lined up in the wrong spot? He can still break off big ones.

If he wasn't coming back, he'd be on IR.

It'll be great if he's fresh right before the playoffs.

hopefully they are saving him for the stretch run, I would like to see him come back around week 16 for a tune up.

He'll be back in time to get ready for the playoffs. Hopefully, he can make it through the entire slate.

after the browns we face teh steelers and the colts

if hes not back for those two games, i would expect him back for week 15, so hes tested before having to play a playoff game

Wow - I am simply astonished and fascinated with these responses. People on this board are always the first to point out how much smarter BB is, how every single roster spot is of so much importance, how he puts more detail in our last roster spots because of special team contributors, etc.

And when you say something like - "why the hell don't we have a fullback" or "why don't we have a 3rd QB" you always have about ten people scream at you for not understanding how important every roster spot is and how invariably BB is grooming some chump like Slater (who hasn't caught a pass in 4 yrs of organized football) to be the next deepthreat it 2014.

And now, everyone thinks the Pats can just burn one of these valuable roster spots on a guy that is 10 yrs past his prime ????

Obviously, Fred is very close to coming back or else he'd be on IR. They wouldn't run a team for 17 weeks with BJGE and then pull the rug out from under him if they were 14-2 or something under this new scheme.

I'm sure Bill does a cost/benefit analysis of every player relative to the roster spot they're consuming. Obviously BB thinks the benefits of Taylor for n games outweighs the other options. Maybe he's right, maybe he's wrong, but it's not like there's a formula where you can plug player A into and get some result telling you whether to keep him or shelve him, and it's not like having any warm, healthy body is always a better approach. It's a judgment call. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't.

What is this "Fred Taylor" you speak of?

I said in the beginning of the season, he's useless.

For all those thinking he'll be "well rested" for the playoffs, nonsense. I'll bet he'll come back in December, maybe have a few good flashes then get injured again and do nothing for us.

goal line back? i dont have evidence of even real insight as to why he may NOT be so, but i do know from what ieve seen this season taht BJ is an EXTREMELY GOOD goal line back, and i really dont see how a back could have been better for us in the goal line

if hes within 15 yds of the end zone, this guy gets the TD, one way or another (BJ that is)

You are correct sir.:.good points...if there is a hole opened by OL....BJGE is hitting it...and hard! BJGE is getting better with the more reps he gets....Taylor may make it back..but he can't stay on the field...unfortunately age and injuries are getting the best of him now...same w/morris...

To me the question isn't if he we will back - I think he will be back - but how long he STAYS back before he gets hurt again. The over/under is 2.5 games.

With FredT out for awhile, it only emphasize that the Patriots need to pick a caliber-RB in 2011 draft.

I cannot foresee BJGE to be carrying the entire load for the remainder of the season + post-season...

MarkIngram?

Well, every game you have 8 players who aren't available to play. As long as you don't have too many injured players, it's reasonable that FT have a spot since our running backs are clearly not a strength of the team.

Can't wait for him to get back. We could use a spark in the running game.

Only reason I'd want Fred back is to give BJGE some breathers.....keep them both fresh...

I don't think BJGE can stand up to 25-30 carries every game....

Just hope Fred doesn't stub his toe again....:bricks:

MarkIngram?

why not? he's not a light weight at 215#

If players like Addai, Ryan Mathews, Ray Rice can do it why not BJGE?
They are all about his size.
I think some think BJGE is small like Kevin Faulk. He's not.
