Wide Receivers depth chart

How much of the route tree can we reasonably expect Thornton to master by the end of training camp?

Or does bb treat him like bethel and just have him run go and post routes?

I think this kid is Bill's project. He is embarrassed over the nkeal debackle. Kids 21 years old please please be mature...

He’s not exactly Edelman in the agility/mobility department, but he’s really fast and long so they’ll use what he has. His job will be to stress the defense vertically, do David Patten’s job… hopefully as good or better.

There’s guys with similar profiles who do this elsewhere, DK Metcalf is the best in the league at it. He can’t stop and turn on a dime either. But he’s fast, can get off jams and is a subtle route runner despite only running vertical routes.

Yet some people can’t get N’Keal Harry out of their heads….

Or accept that because he failed or Chad Jackson failed a decade before him that doesn’t preclude Thornton, Nixon, Wilkerson or even Marcus Jones possibly from being good/great in 2022.

I'm totally over N'Keal.... in about 8 more therapy sessions!

And close to 50 lb heavier than Tyquan.

Desean Jackson was 4 inches and 15 pounds lighter than Tyquan and runs similar routes… if someone is fast enough, smart enough and a savvy route runner size doesn’t seem to be an issue.

The presumed vulnerability for the lightweight receivers is in Press Man coverage. But it's interesting to see which players do best against that coverage - they are all fast (but not as fast as Thornton) and generally in the 190-210 lb range (more towards the lower end mostly). Some of that is if you press them and fail you are dead, so it's a high-risk (unless there is a safety back on your side of the field).

Slater w/ higher rating than Asiasi & Nixon. Thornton w/ a 69. Gronk would be proud.

Good grief, you guys realize Madden ratings aren’t based off anything except recent production… they’re not even accurate in relation to measurables.

If Tyquan or Nixon explodes on the scene for example their rating will jump immediately in next weeks software update… so who cares?

yes, and we here certainly know that measurables are more important than production ROFL
