Why don't any of you have patience?

What is more frustrating than anything, is the lack of discipline and the off field antics that was never a part of the Patriot culture.
A player murdered someone. A player was caught with cocaine. A guy took synthetic weed and had a freakout at a police station.

All that (and more) happened under BB's watch. Bad off the field behavior happens to every team/coach, unfortunately. It's how you deal with it is the difference.

Yes, and all that happened over a 20 plus year time frame. We have had this minus the murder all in less than one season!!

Many of us knew Mayo was a terrible leader and team builder when he opened his mouth at his first press conference. Not to mention all the rumors that he was going behind BB's back. After the press conference, many of us said this is a major red flag and that the Mayo hire is likely to end very badly.

…So maybe we can just stop with the doom and try some positivity and yes the team is bad but we have a good young QB a good Young CB a WR core that has a lot of potential. So lets try that.

So let’s try to not, like, you know, lie about our WRs and their potential first, m’kay?

With Mayo, it's the basic game management **** first, that's killing me.

Like, he was the assistant head coach apparently last year, running meetings...and doesn't know if you're down 9 in the 4th quarter with time left, you go for 1? Calls a timeout with 5 minutes to go for no reason in the 4th quarter?

This is before we even get to the players responding to him, or seeming not to in many cases. That is something that can be developed - but it really feels like, and I have no evidence for this, but it *feels* like Mayo thinks saying 'I'm Jerod Mayo, I can say what I want, and I relate to the players' - when in reality, he has no actual cachet as a coach, and honestly as a player (his ring was won on the bench behind Jamie Collins). You've got a bunch of kids in there saying 'Who the **** is this guy?', and neither of their coordinators seem to be able to call a full game either. Ridiculous pre-snap penalties, rushing to the line because they can't get the damn play in.

So, yeah, it can be improved, but the basic, basic, barebones, barely qualified to be a head coach stuff - the basic game management. If you don't have that, you'll cost your team a few games, no matter how good you are.
Going for two was no brainer. If you fail you know you need to be a lot more aggressive. If you fail to get it on the second touchdown, you’re SOL if you ran too much clock.

The problem is that if you miss, you go from a situation where you need two TDs, an XP, and a 2PC to tie to one where you need two TDs, an XP, and an extra scoring drive to win.

They have lots of potential. Unrealized potential. Potential to drop passes. Potential to run the wrong routes. Potential to not know where to line up. There’s just so much potential in that group.

Unless you think the 2 pt play somehow plays out differently the second time, I’m not sure what your point is. You have to go for two at some point, let’s assume it plays out the same and they don’t get it.

First time, now you can play more aggressive to make up for it and maybe able to get another score.

Second time, you wait to got to two and don’t get it and took too much time to score. Now you’re in an onside kick scenario.

The argument you’re making to wait to go for two until you absolutely have to is you prioritize staying in the game over winning the game. I pick the choose that gives us the absolute best chance to win the game.

I want to know why so many here can't give the team time to rebuild. I see so many FIRE MAYO CUT POLK in messages i don't get it.

Mayo has had 7 games that is just his. it takes time to get a system and culture settled in.
People that are complaing about the D the team lost it's best runstopper to blood clots. a leading line backer to injury and good safety to stupidity.
They have not had the same OL in any game this year. Lost the anchor and veteran presence in Andrews
Even the most optimistic fan, which i am, thought this team would cap out at like 9 wins at most and that is with everything going nearly perfect.

You make excellent sense. It the emotions of us at posters as we all for the most part want to see the team have success. Your right it takes patience. We have our QB, and he's done his best to elevate guys around him. Polk is a rookie he will become a great player in the league. I would like the team to identify guys on the roster that are going to grow with Drake.. the others either make them inactive or just cut them. I'd have to think polk, Baker, pop,Henry, rham are going to be here for at least drakes next 2 to 3 season. Keep those guys and add game changers around him. Ok defense your right we just Don't have the horses righ now. Guys are playing with no pride and it's showing. However I would love to still beat the Jets Sunday.

Great posts and your right. As for anyone that says it's getting worse, that's true short term. Teams lik BUFF waited over two decades post Jim Kelly to get a QB. That list goes on and on.... Raiders, Jets, etc. We have people (fans?) piss-whining as it's been 5 seasons since a SuperBowl. And the media plays into it. Gosh I just saw a post title about "fans should see Mayo is just a Kraft puppet". What's the basis for that...?.... answer there is none. Sure the team isn't doing well, but it was predictably and expected. There are pieces in place here personnell wise but some critical gaps on the line of scrimmage (both sides). As for the media, there was some long talk show on the fan change some 10 or more years ago. Impatience, drama, spoiled fans was the topic. They spoke to a breed of new fans that only knew of winning here. They don't understand the NFL. Reality is you should average a SB win once every 32 years in a parity model. It's been 5. Do the math.

My patience is being tested when the opposing team runs the ball 17 times in a row without us doing anything different. By the 10th time we should've seen some all out run blitz etc. Something. We just took it.

The team has to be trending up or trending down. They're trending down.

Now, if they were disciplined (on and off the field) and they were keeping teams close but still losing despite playing near-mistake free ball, there would be optimism. The team is losing, as expected but they look like a rudderless ship with no path forward. They don't do anything well.
Injuries, gaps on D-line and o-line. New offensive system in place. Many new players. Accordinly, the team was predicted to be bad. They were likely to take a step back before going forward. Some people can't handle that. Add in two OTs....get Baremore back and a Lawrence Guy repacement, and it's a different team. The pats were fragile/thin in some areas and key injuries in positions that were already weak sets you back. Welcome to the NFL.... what we had for 20 years was akin to a winning powerball.

Could be argued that this Mayo led team is on an accelerated schedule given this roster's adeptness in fulfilling 2 of 3 tasks on the above list by week 6 of Mayo's year 1.

I pray this team doesn't strive for AHern level behavior and hope the defensive players can do a better job concealing their narcotics when involved in domestic abuse activities as well as early morning motor vehicle violations.

9 wins? You thought Jacoby would lead us to a winning record? Can I please place an order for whatever it is you're smoking?
