Who's Available On Day 3

Perhaps my eyesight is really bad, but I can't really see any indication of anything from that pic.
It's the colouring. Yellow is a rookie and you can clearly see a yellow tag at the LT slot of the depth chart (and a yellow tag at the RB position for Michel).

Cool! Thanks! I'll look again.

Coincidentally, I use yellow for fill on the rookie lines of my roster spreadsheet.

QB Mike White, Western Kentucky
QB Kyle Lauletta, Richmond
LB Genard Avery, Memphis
LB Davin Bellamy, Georgia
CB Tony Brown, Alabama
CB Anthony Averett, Alabama
S Troy Apke, Penn State*

WR Dylan Cantrell, Texas Tech
WR DaeSean Hamilton, Penn State

DT Tim Settle, VaTech
RB John Kelly, Tennessee
RB Kalen Ballage, Arizona State
DE Da'Shawn Hand, Alabama
LB Jack Cichy, Wisconsin
LB Mike McCray, Michigan

*special teams ace
Apke is a workout warrior. Incredible combine numbers. Wouldn’t be a bad 5th or 6th round pick, though Tennessee will probably jump up to pick him right before the Pats do.

I think if they don’t pick Lauletta or Falk with their 4th pick (which I expect them to trade down for a late 4th and a 3rd in 2019), I think Hamilton will be the guy. With several receivers on the roster getting older and being in the last year of their contracts, I can see them pick Hamilton.

We’ve been pretty good at picking in round 4 over the last several years. Hope that continues.

I mean, there were four stud LBs in this draft and they went in the first 22 picks. I think there's depth too but it's a weird claim that there "weren't a lot of top options."

I slapped together a potential 53 using patspicker and here a few thoughts with the final day of the draft approaching.

We technically have defensive ends that are decent and fringe roster guys such as eric lee, davis, grissom etc. But we don't have anyone that is a speed rusher or that effectively runs that arc.

We need more competition at safety. I pushed Jordan Richards off the roster but in reality we need to bring in more guys to actually make it happen. Bring in rookies to challenge King, Ebner, Richards.

Somehow Elandon made the cut. Hopefully we draft/fa to completely push him off the roster. We don't necessarily need a cover lb. Id settle for an average jack of all trades or a dominant run stopper e.g. Brandon Spikes

So for today I hope to see some safeties, a speed rusher, anyone better than E. Roberts, pass catching tight end, and a big corner that hopefully is a more physical version of Rowe. I suspect we will draft/udfa multiple defensive tackles today since we don't have too many bodies at the position. There aren't too many spots available for rookies so I hope we can trade some of those picks into future ones.

P.S. everyone needs to seriously lower their expectations for today. Half of our picks will basically be practice squad candidates.

I thought he was cleared?
15 of 16 interviewed had him OFF their boards.

He has a life threatening heart condition.

I think they will get Chad Kanoff either with a late pick or through UDFA.

I want him, if only for the name. If his parents had any sense of humor, they would have named him Jack. Chad is enough of an imperfect rhyme for Jack that I giggle like a school girl when I hear his name said quickly.

I have no idea what kind of QB he can be, but I'm rooting for him!

I still like quite a few players today. But whoever they pick is likely to have/need special teams ability. Bar a QB they likely aren't going to make the team without it.

I'm particularly focused on a LB who can run. I've been on Christian Sam for a while but I would also like to see us pick up Shaun Dion Hamilton from Alabama - injuries are a concern but he could be a steal if given a redshirt year. I also love the upside of Foyesade Oluokun. I'd love if we could snag him in the 7th.

Few guys I like:

Duke Ejiofor
Ian Thomas
DaeSean Hamilton
Dane Cruikshank
Ogbonnia Okoronkwo
Anthony Averett
Christian Sam
Troy Apke
Shaun Dion Hamilton
Foyesade Oluokun,
Kentavius Street
Mark Walton
Antonio Callaway (although likely off their board)
TE Ian Thomas would be nice. I'd like to see some defense first though. He'd have to last until the 5th.

In a brutal sport like football? I hope he has a backup career ...

If Patriots pickup a TE (blocking) I'd release DwayneAllen. He is making 5M just to block.

I could see the team bringing in a couple of QB's with the idea of cutting them if they don't work out, or trying to put them on the PS.

IMHO, if they think that one really has a chance to be a long-term backup (or starter) then I would expect him to be drafted early in the 4th.

I think that we forget that we are looking for potential future replacements for Brady AND Hoyer.
============
As an aside, the 4th round pick is for a player we will keep. After that, Belichick has been successful, but is as likely to get a player for the UDFA field (unless he is looking for a special team specialist).

We might wait and see whether the TE is worth keeping on the 53 (doubtful IMHO)

BTW, if blocking TE's were so easy to find, we would have signed on in free agency, or traded a draft pick for one.
