Who will be the new OC?

Alabama ran in first down 59.9% of the time last year. 55.0% in 2020, and 54.9% in 2019.
Do you know if that includes bowl games and such ?

With rumors McD will pick Lombardi as OC and IMHO BOB staying at Bama, I can see Gase as the Pats' OC. He was terrible as a HC but has serious cred as an OC. Although rumors are that he doesn't want a coaching gig, I can see Hoyer as the QB coach to continue mentoring Mac. I also hope BB can lure Judge back to coach ST, which regressed in 2021.

Umm.. Gase?? Really? The guy who acted like he was stoned out of him mind while the Coach of the Jets?? I mean, I know that the Jets are bad, but he looked ridiculous up there.

His only success as a OC was being Mannings caddy in Denver. All of his offenses beside that sucked and he was the true coordinator when he was HC.

I am talking about in the 1st half. Go back and watch some games.
And actually those stats line up with everything I said. Because he was so predictable, we had to blow it open in the 2nd half to make Young become the Heisman winning QB. Again go look at the box scores from every game, we were behind, tied, or slight leads at halftime last year in almost every game besides the cupcakes. Then go look at that box scores from 2020, where we played an all SEC schedule, we were up by double digits almost every game. So why was that with the Heiman trophy winner QB leading team? Could it possibly have something to do with the OC and his play calling?
I guess you want to defend BOB and that's ok.

To be fair Bama lost starting qb two offense linemen waddle Harris and Smith
metchie injured , offense line not blocking that well this past year imo

Not joking but I had wondered about that. No idea what Mayo knows about offense but maybe it's a possibility.
Pretty smart and in practice he’s played against it and coached against it for 11 seasons.

This is not a snarky question. Do you have any example where a coach has gone from Being a DC straight to being an OC or vice versa?

We had the Heisman winning QB this year. Metchie wasn’t injured until the SECCG.
Williams stepped in and was one of the top receivers in college.
Brian Robinson was a hellva back, he got 60 yards against GA with an injured hamstring.
Like I said our OL had issues, but when the offense was so predictable, it was easy to make them look worse than they were.
BOB best game was against GA in the SECCG, he called a masterful game, our OL gave up 0, zero, sacks against the best defense in college football.
In the NCG he was terrible, yea Metchie was out and Williams went out, but even before he went out we were kicking FGs.

They could bring back Jerry Schuplinski as QB coach, and decide between him and Cauley who calls the plays.

How is correcting sometime you were wrong about defending BOB?
Almost every single person with the “he calls bad plays, even I know what’s coming” complaints exaggerates what happens and is wrong about the facts. I checked you out, and you were too.

We are going to need to add minority candidates to the list. As a bunch of racists I don’t think this board has named any other than the half-joking mention of Mayo.

Flores and Hue Jackson

Troy Brown and Kevin Faulk
They aren’t really legitimate OC candidate so it would probably be a bad idea, since they would be considered sham interviews.

Not a lateral move, but Juan Castillo spent 15 years as some form of offensive assistant with Andy Reid’s Eagles before being promoted to defensive coordinator in 2012. It was very controversial at the time. It also only lasted for 6 weeks before Reid canned him.

I remember that.

I had a difficult time understanding actually what point you are trying to convey.
I’m not wrong on the facts that BOB always ran on 1st down and since we didn’t have Najee Harris with Brian Robertson backing him up, those 1st downs were not nearly as effective. In fact we were to 2 RBs on scholarship toward the end of 2021!
When we get 1-3 yards on 1st down, what do you do on 2nd down? You pass! If I knew it, the DC knew it.
When we didn’t have leads going into 2nd half, the pass happy BOB started calling plays. Our OL was giving up sacks and Young was running for his life.
I have been season ticket holder for over 20 years and we go to almost every game and go to numerous away games. I can tell the difference between the play calling of BOB vs Sark vs Kiffin.
