Who will be the new OC?

Ernie Adams. For OC and DC. And DoPP. And president.

In all seriousness, I'll just spitball some names I found in a random article (these are outside names, so familiarity with the system is not a given):

Marcus Brady - OC of Colts: The Colts offense currently runs somewhat similar to the Patriots, with a pounding run attack and not the most prolific pass game. Wentz is weak, Mac is young, so he understands how to put QB's in positions of success without relying too much on them to always win the games. He seemed to employ some comprehensive understanding of offense in his time with the Colts. I'm not sure if they run an entirely different system (play-calling wise). Question is, and something I'd like to see replicated from McDaniels from any potential suitor, is their ability to groom a rookie QB. It seems he's more in contention for an HC job, but I digress.

Adam Stenevich - Green Bay OL Coach / Run Game Coordinator: In his time at GB he has created two pro-bowlers on the offensive line and maintained a top-10 run- and pass-block line after said pro-bowlers went out with injuries this season.

Thomas Brown - Los Angeles Rams running backs coach/assistant head coach: Has been cited by McVay as a huge influence on getting players to buy into the Rams' culture, and previously worked with RB's in college at Wisconsin, Georgia, Miami, South Carolina. With our team only getting younger as we get into our new class, it'd be great to have that familiarity of both NFL professionalism and inspiring with younger players.

Pep Hamilton - Texans QB Coach - Worked with Herbet his rookie year. Made Mills look serviceable with absolutely nothing to work with. Great with young QB's.

As bad as these choices are I can only hope for Chad O’Shea.

Given how limited the E/P pool of coordinators is I now find myself for the first time wanting Belichick to commit to a completely different system, and I’m not really certain which one, especially since Mac Jones does restrict the options.

Part of me is glad MacDaniels left, because I have never been sold on him as Belichick’s replacement, but he’s a very good OC, and now they are essentially f@cked when it comes to options at OC.

We know that Belichick will not hire outside of his coaching tree. So while Joe Brady and Pep Hamilton might seem nice its 100% not happening. Chad O Shea might though.

Sternovich just got promoted to the Packers OC job.

Doubtful Hoyer would call plays year one on staff. Him becoming quarterbacks coach is far more likely.

I agree, I would doubt he would get the OC title not with Belichick in charge. He knows Mac Jones very well. He knows the system and the plays. He has played in the system and called plays when he was on the field as the QB of the team. So all he does have is the experience calling plays as the OC. I doubt whoever gets the job will have exclusive calls and control over Mac Jones. Bill Belichick isn't going to give up his personal relationship with Mac Jones and his control over his development.

Here is the scenario... Brady was holding off announcing retirement to see what McD would do. Now that there is an opening, Brady retires and starts a new chapter as Pats OC.

More rings...no wear and tear on his body.

One would think the owner of a nfl team could afford a better hair piece, or a better barber.

Dumb and Dumber is certainly an apt description of more than one NFL owner and his front office.

Read and heard quite a bit about this over the past couple of days.. my suggestion is to overhaul the current structure:
Jerod Mayo.. ST Coordinator and Assistant Coach ( so no one gets confused with the line of succession)
Steven Belichick... DC on a very short leash, with lots of BB oversight and if he fails then that will be it for him.
Bill O'Brien... if he wants to leave Alabama, OC with the knowledge he will not be heir apparent to BB, just be a very good OC. Do not particularly like him but he is knows how to work with BB and knows the college players and trends. Not much of a Patriots learning curve.

Ive always wondered if he tries to look stupid on purpose? has a strange sense of humor? never really bothered to look into it but gotta be something along those lines

Belichick went "outside" to hire people like Schiano, Bielema, and Fisch and others.

So, lots of posters throwing M Brady name around and I’m wondering…

1. did he get fired? if not we have to pry him away to hire to an equivalent position

so how many draft picks invwhichbround is that?

we are already short this year, barring that we get something for McD and Z. So count me out on him even if he were the best option ( not convinced either).

Cool. Give me the last Coordinator he hired outside of his circle. Pees?

I truly don't get the Josh hate around here.
It's because after a series that consists of a one yard run, another one yard run, then on 3rd and 8 a pass that goes for four yards, people get mad. That series is all they remember. Sure every team and OC has those. But some people are convinced those drives are all McDaniels can come up with.

You're right and honestly I've been saying as much. It's 5-6 plays a game that people are flipping out about.

I brought up 12P on the first page of my thread and was excited af for it. Smith couldn't sustain or block big dogs up front and I doubt Asiasi was the answer to all our problems and completing our 12p package. I would have like to see more of him but I'm going to pretend he was the answer to our prayers. It's tough to run that package with one TE that can block. And serviceable at that not some monster. Smith wasn't asked to sustain or take on bigger guys in Tennessee like he was here. Chip, block and release etc but we were asking him to sustain blocks against DL'm. He couldn't.

I doubt Josh is responsible for signing FA's, drafting every bust but I guess he's an easy scapegoat for some.

I'm not even a "big" Josh fan. I definitely have my complaints but he's better than most and helped way more than he hurt us. I don't believe nitpicking and making stuff about him, a proven OC, is classy or productive but again I guess some do.

Schiano was hired as the DC in February of 2019. At the end of March 2019, Schiano resigned claiming he wanted to spend more time with his family though many people didn't believe it.

Are you done?

Not as coordinators.
