I do not think Guyton can play the 1st and 2nd down bash my head with a gaurd role.

Last preseason game with guyton and mayo in the middle , benson was able to run between the tackles . IN such closed quaters guyton`s speed and range is useless.A reason we switched to 4-3 to stop the run by matching mass our front 7 with the OL .

Mayo + Guyton + Vince = 825 LB of muscle against
Center + 2 gaurds = 950 LB of muscle on the oline.

even though we slam sanders he was in on most of these plays making tackles to stop the run. no matter what one says a 240 LB ILB on a 310 LB gaurd in very limited space when the ILB cannot use his speed is not going to work,

we truly do not have a DE to ILB like bru. He plays big as he was a DE all his life and used to playing on the LOS.We are asking our ILB who has not played on LOS to learn to Play on the LOS against gaurds on 1st and 2nd down. a reason i am suprised we never picked up a Small DT to develop in this role.

What 825#s are you talking about? Mayo is up to 251, by his own count, and Guyton is even bigger now, perhaps 255. If you believe that Wilfork is 325, I have a Bridge to Brooklyn to sell that you might be interested in purchasing...

Almost every backup in the league would be a huge dropoff from Mayo. The issue is roster options for backup ILB's. Obviously these backups also need to be solid special team players. I favor Bruschi and Lenon. Who do you favor?

I'm going with Lenon and Alexander, but that's in the fantasyland in my head where Lenon gets on the field and plays like we all hoped he might when we signed him. Sure hope he's a good book-learner.

Lenon is back but ha an uphill battle to make the roster at this point. I like Alexander, Bru takes a break and waits by the phone until the playoffs.
