It's a question........... Gunner, Meyers, neither, both???

Sorry - forgot to put "Poll" in the title.

In that Edelman's health can be aided by Gunner being on the 53 ... I pick him.
Even though I said a few months ago he was a scrawny string bean.
Meyers needs more time ... but he seems to be NFL quality.

So, I thought Meyers would be a lock, but after last night, I am not so sure.

I think Meyers has a better chance, but I'm honestly wondering if either makes it right now.

Gunner is the type of player you hope the team can find some way to keep on the roster. He has tremendous heart and gives it his all on every snap. Hell they put him in on defense and he was flying across the field making tackles

I also like the idea of preserving Edelman and having Gunner take over punt return duties

Two days ago I said Gunner wouldn't make it because he could only return punts. I was wrong, in a pinch you can put him anywhere. He could probably even wildcat a play or two.

Exactly. His ST play and versatility is important. The guy probably would mop the floor after the game. ;)

Both Gunner and the other guy who was playing both O and D last night make Belichick think about "the old days" of leather helmets and $6,000 salaries. Gives them both a fighting chance.

Meyers. I think everyone is forgetting Harry returned Kicks in college & probably would be doing it for the Patriots if he wasn't currently injured. Harry will be the PR & KR IMO.

I think Meyer's chances took a big hit for 3 important reasons:

1) He doesn't seem to play a lot of (if any) special teams.

2) His play as a WR has trailed off after a hot start, and he didn't do himself any favors with Brady against the Panthers.

3) We suddenly have a very deep (at least to start) WR corp, so it's harder for him to crack the game day roster for that alone. Right now there are three WR's ahead of him that we know Brady trusts more (Edelman, Dorsett, Gordon), a veteran that Brady likes and just showed he's on the right track health wise (Thomas) and a first round rookie (Harry). I just don't see room for him if he's not playing ST.

Meyers went from looking like he was close to lock to potentially not making the roster. Gunner went from a guy who I figured at zero shot and has given himself a chance. I feel if both were released Gunner has a better chance of clearing waivers than Meyers does. I think Meyers would stand a chance of being picked up by the Dolphins or Lions.

Great question. I have no idea. Before yesterday's game, I was hoping they could sneak Gunner onto the practice squad. Now, I'm hoping they can find a spot on the roster. Can Belichick justify a roster spot as a special team specialist like he does for Slater and Ebner? You know he's wrestling with the idea right now. Maybe he justifies it by considering him to be emergency depth at defensive back as well as WR. Perhaps, he gets Ebner's roster spot. I will say it looks like Gunner needs to add ten pounds of muscle.

As for Myers, I feel they need to keep him on the roster due to the uncertainty that comes with Gordon, Edelman, and DT.

Why can’t we have both??? Oh, the agony..:(

You're saying a team like Arizona would look at Gunner and go, "nah, we couldn't find anything to do with that guy."

I really like Bolden back on the team but he’s one of those bubble guys with the tremendous depth we have at that position

I still think they should just put the ball into the back of the end zone on every kick off for touchbacks to prevent a big play. That reduces the need for as many specialists as they have as well other than punting

Harry makes the 53 and goes to IR with the ability to return. Gunner and Meyers both make the 53. Hope I’m wrong about Harry.

I wouldn’t put it past them. They already stole Isabella.

BUT...

1) We only have 1 or 2 TE. I would keep him over Lacosse.

2) They only have 7 healthy OL that are ''worth'' keeping on 53

3) Edelman, DT and Gordon have ??? on their healthy status. Even Harry.

4) He is at least for now a better WR than Gunner.

5) He will probably be claimed and others won't. So why would you keep eg Skipper over him?
