The obvious answer is Bill, but Bob and Bill's relationship had deteriorated completely and Bob wanted control.

He got it and the team goes from bad to worse....or soft.

Mayo will only survive if Maye starts carrying the team and Wolf starts drafting better and/or makes better off-season moves. Posters will will realize eventually that the talent level on his team is among the worst in the NFL.
Oh.. I've already realized that rain man... I'm just willing to give the new regime more time to get this team back into being contender. Drake is a huge piece going forward. The idea was sit Drake and let him develop, that Brissett could get the team through the season.. I really think the problems started by continuing to play Brissett when he clearly wasn't what they thought he would be. Now the defense forgot how to stop the run. Bottom roster, poor coaching, poor execution equals 1-6.

Who gives us the best chance? The answer is really easy.

…But I believe the outcome will be the same. The team will be better coached but I think outcomes will still be the same because of the talent level.

This discussion is helping me clarify something I’ve thought about talent level for awhile. Pure talent is only part of the picture. Another important part that’s often overlooked is ability to use that talent.

Part of effectively using talent is the player’s motivation and focus. There are lots of tremendously talented players that for whatever reasons squander their god-given talent by not using it effectively. Flash Gordon is a great example of that.

Another part of effectively utilizing talent is putting the player in the best position to succeed. In other words, coaching. Some of that is teaching nuances, footwork, hand placement, even judging the wind (see video clip below). It’s also asking players to do things they’re good at, having them mesh with the rest of the team, not playing them out of position or allowing them to freelance. We’ve seen some very talented WRs not make it in Foxboro because they couldn’t do this. Ochocinco might be a good example.

So it’s not just talent level of the players that determines performance. It’s also the quality of the coaching they get, or in other words the performance of their coaches.

Here’s a good video showing the value of hands on coaching:

The outlook on Mayo would've been better had he kicked Brissett to the curb and started Maye week 1. Also, I'm surprised it took this long to bench Brissett. You can't average 150-160 yards passing and less than a .5 TD per game and expect to win. Maye has already obliterated Brissett's production in only two weeks.

How much time do you give them when they show you they aren’t the right people?

Yes! U and I have both agreed from the start maye should have been the starter.. we win the Seattle and Miami games at least with Drake starting. I don't even think Brissett was putting up those passing yards.. more like tot he tune of 90 or 120 pass yards.. @PatsFan2 can give the accurate numbers on that lol. Drake has 5 TDs in 2 games.. just remarkable for a rookie starting only 2 games.

Blaming your players and throwing them under the bus = soft. End of story.
He has said after each loss it starts with him. Inmean at this point it's pretty redundant to pile on.. let's look forward to seeing Drake play.. I'm already resigned to the fact that there will be no coaching changes coming this season. Bill and Lombardi aren't coming back to save the day!

You don’t really find throwing everyone under the bus and then throwing in “but it starts with me” sincere do you? That it negates the blaming, and saying schemes are fine no one executes?

At least to next season.
I could see whacking him at like 1-12 to give the team a fresh start so players can use the last few games to show what they can do with better coaching.
Most teams respond to interim coaches.
The problem is we don’t have a coach on the staff to be a decent coordinator much less a HC.

2 QBs in history have had over 500 passing yards and 5 TDS in their first 2 starts.
Marino and Maye

It depends. Is there any way we get Bill the HC without Bill the GM? Or are they a set pair where we have to take one if we want the other?
