Mayo says the team is soft; BB says the team is not soft.

Mayo doesn’t interact with players on the sideline to coach them up during games; BB was always engaging with players on the sidelines to coach them up.

So here’s my question: which coach gives the best chance to win football games?

Specifically, today is Monday. Which coach walking in the door this morning wins more games over the remainder of the season, coaching the team as it now exists?

No worries about roster building, player selection, buying the groceries. Groceries are bought, larder is what it is, roster is set. Which coach gets the most out of what they have to work with, and makes the best of handling whatever comes up going forward, on the field and off.

Also, no changes in coaching staff personnel but possible changes in duties, e.g. same OC play calling may be done by HC not OC or re-assigned to QB coach or some other assistant.

I think it's fair to assume they'd get to 4-13 under Bill because that's what he did last year and it's not a hard argument that he absolutely did not get the best out of the team over the last 2 years. 4 wins > 1 win yay for us. Cue the duckboats and the banner hanging ceremony.

Hard to say. The schedule is easier on paper so 4 wins should be attainable but they already lost to a crap Miami team so there's no such thing as an "easy" team now.

Bill ignoring that he had barmore and Bentley and peppers for run defense. What will gonzo and Marcus Jones do for run defense .

I blame this on Covington who absolutely looked clueless trying to plug gaps when team ran 18 successive run plays.

It must be demoralizing as a coach as well as players. I hope they channel their inner fortitude and self worth to fix this.

Wow I'm torn. Obviously we are talking about a 8x champion HC, best to ever do it versus his understudy who's just starting out. Considering the make up of the roster with the current front office in place too? I just have to ask that question to you?

Yes. And with that I know I’m glossing over a couple of things, like opportunities for trades between now and trade deadline, working relationship with FO incumbents. Just trimming it back to Xs and Os and in-game strategy and coaching players to be their best.

To me it’s a no brainer. As you said, best to ever do it.

I was trying to contrast that with what we’ve got now. We have a guy who got the job because of the way he looked schmoozing in an airport lounge. He was groomed for the job by the guy who hired him sending him to intern with Optum on how to be a suit. He’s never shown anything about being a hands on coach creating his vision of a winning football team and teaching players to execute it. He’s a perfect example of the fake it until you make it approach to career success.

Ok. I'll say this.. there is really no defending I need to do for Mayo anymore. He took the job knowing the team was in a rebuild, and going to take a QB. He's In a collaborative set up have problem's with. But hey he's being paid very well so this comes with the job. I have no ego so of course I'd say bill as far as x's and o's. But I believe the outcome will be the same. The team will be better coached but I think outcomes will still be the same because of the talent level.

The obvious answer is Bill, but Bob and Bill's relationship had deteriorated completely and Bob wanted control.

He got it and the team goes from bad to worse....or soft.

Mayo will only survive if Maye starts carrying the team and Wolf starts drafting better and/or makes better off-season moves. Posters will will realize eventually that the talent level on his team is among the worst in the NFL.
