What's your best-case O'Connell scenario?

As long as it doesn't involve Tom Brady and Mo Lewis, I'm OK with it.

I'd see O'Connell playing well in pre-season for a couple of years, occasionally playing in 4th quarters and in trick-play situations, and then in 2011 when Brett Favre retires again, we can ship him to Green Bay for 2 Second-Rounders a la Matt Schaub.

The question is simple:

In your opinion, what is the best-case scenario now that the Pats have drafted O'Connell?

To never, ever, see him in any competitive game situation, save for the 4th quarter of a blowout victory.

Best Case...
Makes the 53 this year
Next year 2009 season in the 2nd game, Brady injured
OC starts and leads the Pats to a 2nd SB win two years running
2010 season Brady traded for 2 #1 picks and OC leads Pats to another SB win in 2011

Realistic best case...
Makes the 53 this season having shown game poise
Makes the 53 in 2009 as the undisputed #2 QB
Subs in regular season and does not disgrace himself (e.g. an INT toss to opposing DE for a TD)

I think KO has a way better shot at being a legitimate QB in the league than Cassell or Guttierez ... however ... his is a long road ... at least 2 years to even be a partly capable backup ... he'll have to be a supreme scout team QB to stick around.
