What worries you the most about the Panthers game?

The Panthers have Newton, McCaffery, Benjamin, and Funchess. While that doesn't exactly look like an offensive powerhouse group, they certainly have the capacity to make some plays, especially if the Panthers' defense holds us to 24-27. Most here had the same type of thinking in last week's game, and some even went as far as making fun of N.Orleans' skill position players in week two. In week one, the popular thought was that if you stop Hill and Kelce, you win the game easily.

This is the week that the defense should improve, but forgive me for being a bit skeptical until I see it happen, and that's not even bringing up the concerns about the type of scheme they may choose to deploy against Newton.
Oh I'm sure the scheme is going to be the same maddening contain/Cover 3-Cover 4 scheme we usually see against mobile quarterbacks. I'd hope not because Newton, like Smith, is very capable of exploiting that while still making plays with his feet, but history shows us that's what we will see. At least until crunch time when they need a stop.

Marginally worried about the Panthers Defense, who statistically are one of the better D's in the NFL..

But if Newton is erratic as he was against the Saints not worried all that much.. in the end the Pats will prevail.

I see what you did there.

What gave you your first clue Sherlock? Did the bulb finally illuminate for ya or did you get a phone call?

Hope you get it. It was the only way I could think of wording it.

Don't worry, as we speak, McCourty is having a great new SJW t-shirt printed up for when he takes to the podium after the game to explain why a country that is paying him 11 million dollars a year to be the worst safety in the NFL is oppressive to black people. And Oh, Tom Brady is going to have to put up thirty plus points to save them, again.

Too bad his cap hit would be crushing, because he would look great in Cleveland Orange!
Oh shut up. He played poorly (along with the other safeties against KC and Houston) but you are just frothing about his political opinions and thus slamming his abilities for it. Totally disrespectful of a great player and captain of this team for seven seasons who helped win two Super Bowls.

DMac is a top notch safety, an intelligent man and great presence in the community. All things you don't know anything about.

OK that said it is obviously the mobility of Cam which is worrying. Remember we said the same things about the Texans last week. Bad offense, limited weapons, a rookie QB yet we still got smoked.

Panthers are struggling but Cam is a former MVP and could give us some real head aches even if their offense isn't playing good.

That was one of Brandin Cooks games against the Panthers last year.

I am not concerned "yet" on defense. As bad as they looked so far, I think they can improve and be much better. As many posters have pointed out already, come november and december when schedule gets tough they will tighten up. Until then, I hope there are no injuries on offensive side of the ball and they continue to score enough points to win. Once defense gets better there will be less pressure on offense.

That said, my biggest concern against Panthers is giving up big plays. Newton is having a bad year so far but he is Flacco like in terms of chucking the ball 50 yds and hoping his receiver makes a play or draws a DPI call.

I am ok with a 1 point win as long as there are no injuries.

They have three tough games in those two months. Denver, Oakland and Pitt. The rest of the games are against the division who should all be in full tank mode by November.

Wow! that's like 25yds per catch sick.

Agree. OAK, DEN and PIT are potential matchups for us in playoffs. How well our defense can match up against them will tell us if we stand a chance to make it to SB and actually win it.

The mobility of the Panthers offense scares me. The Pats had a hell of a time stopping Watson, and Newton is a bigger, faster Watson. Add McCaffrey's ability receiving out of the backfield, and the middle of the Pats defense is going to have its hands full.

That their All-Pro LB will be allowed to hold Gronk like he always does with no flags.

They throw flags. Then they pick them up. Most cowardly call I’ve ever seen in 2013. Brady with Dobson and Thompkins > Newton and anyone. It’s a sCam that he won an MVP award, it really is. Biggest frontrunner in sports, let alone the NFL.

Panthers have weapons in the backfield, just interested to see how we play them. Panthers will be missing Olsen and Benjamin and our offense will score at will so it will be interesting to see how they play us on offense.

Newton has been terrible this year. I think this is the game where the defense steps up and smothers an opponent. Not worried about the Panthers at all. Our secondary is too good for this defense to be as bad as it's been this year. They will figure it out. Sunday is the beginning.

And the other was 7 for 42. If Cooks gets 7 catches in this one, it will be a short 4th quarter for everyone.

Anyone have the stat...Most home losses in the BB/Brady era? Just reg season? I could look it up but very lazy

If we can put up 36 on Houston's D...I am not worried about that match up. A running QB scares me given what I saw last week. I want to see 2+ TOs from the D
