What makes this team different from 2007?

Hopefully this team wins the last game of the season!

I remember in 2007 when Brady threw a 74 yard pass across the field against the Giants in the super bowl. He always had a very underrated arm. Even now at 40, he can still throw a strike 60-65 yards downfield. But man in his physical prime, he could throw em 75 yards if he had too. Also his velocity in his passes in 2007 was insane, absolute bullets.

I think Brady's mind is sharper now than it was in 07, and his pocket presence is better now than it's ever been.

That throw to Gaffney in week 15

Honestly?

1. Fact that they won the SB the year before, thereby most players on team have been there

2. Youth so that vast majority doesn't see this as their last shot at a title and thinking of riding into the sunset by retiring after going unbeaten

Forget the exact players or anything like that, when it comes to handling undefeated it's 80% mental

One difference is that bill belichick has 10more years of experience. He was great in 07 don't get me wrong, but now he has 10 more years of lessons learned, often the hard way, and that, of course includes the lessons from the 18-1 year itself

As of now I like this projected team over the 2007.

I think this will be a more complete offense. They don't have Moss but they have more options and can attacks more parts of the field more reliably. This team though they are less likely to put up 50 will be harder to slow down due to match up issues.

Also this D imo is projected to be better if they keep Butler. The 2007 D though had more experience.

I wonder about that. How many players on that 07 defense had direct experience carrying a team to and through a Superbowl? We certainly have no shortage of Superbowl Champions on this D, especially if we keep Butler. The defensive core on 2007had a lot more time to get old and disperse and be replaced. If asked straight up which team has more useful experience between the 07 d and this one I'd say this one. They may be young but they have seen a lot of very, very high level football in their time

As another poster mentioned.........Randy Moss was out of this world in 2007. It's amazing how Brady could heave the ball downfield. You knew exactly who it was going to, and you felt 80% sure he was going to get it. Not kidding, I used to celebrate before even seeing the ending of the play just knowing that Randy would most likely get it. Brady and machine like that is almost unfair.

Time will tell if cooks, edelman, gronk can be as dynamic as moss and welker

But on paper i dont see how teams defend that. Anyone of those guys one on one is a guaranteed first down and then some. Add in 2nd year of mitchell, hogan, white, lewis, allen

If the O line can hold up, it will beat out 2007 as the greatest offense in history

From memory, 2007 was a team of hardened veterans who on the back of a witch hunt, caught fire and went on their merry way. 2017 is a youth movement brigade with a QB in complete command of his craft. On paper, this Patriots team has the potential to be the greatest Patriots team of all time. On paper...

07 had a better dline.
This team has a better secondary.
Recievers are tough to call but I'd go with this teams depth of WR/TE/RB options.
OL and RB tough to call.
LB I'd say '07 but it not a major difference like the Dline was.
But the most important as pointed out - TB and BB have seen it all by now. Same goes for JMD, and Patricia > Pees. That's why I'd give the edge to this team.

You guys want to know what's similar?
I know it is unpopular to say, here goes:

2007 - we were insecure about Gost in the playoffs
2017 - we are insecure about Gost in the playoffs

2007: Tore our hearts in the last minutes of the Super Bowl by losing to the Giants. 18-1.
2017: All skittles and unicorns today. 0-0.

I would like more depth in the pass rushing department. Hope brady's working on that arm. I still would love to be balance and have that running game. Curious to see how dion lewis bounces back one year away from the acl injury.

Last year I said that I thought this was the team that BB has always been building. Everyone buys in and does their job. That's the difference.

You may be insecure about Gostkowski. I'm not. In kicking field goals, he is 31 for 33 lifetime in the playoffs. I guess you expect perfection.
