I'm the only Nascar fan?

What's with all the UFC hate here? Is it because of the decline in boxing? Anyone who doesn't think MMA is a sport has no clue what they are talking about. And MMA is safer than boxing because they allow clinching and people don't get knocked out multiple times over multiple rounds. Not to mention that it requires a much broader array of skills than boxing does.

And Stephen Neal was a better wrestler than Brock Lesnar in college (beat him in the NCAA championships) who is now a pretty decent looking MMA fighter that had an impressive loss to Frank Mir about a month ago (Mir is one of the top HWs in the ufc).

I've only recently renewed my love of baseball after a 10 year hiatus...I think it took me this long to appreciate the chess game that happens with every pitch. I know for most out there it's too slow and boring blah blah but I think a love for the game comes with time, and with the appreciation of every small change/adjustment that gets made over the course of the game. NFL is 11 men vs 11 men (plus or minus a few coaches etc) and the whole team contributes (which is why opening day of the NFL season is better than Xmas, Easter, and Thanksgiving all rolled into 1), but MLB is almost down to a game of 1 on 1 chess with some occasional pawns brought to bear, and THEN if one player "fails" the rest of the team comes into play. I can watch baseball for hours where it used to bore me to tears.
With that said, all the douchebags who claim X isn't a "real" sport should sit and spin. If you pour your heart, soul, and life into training for anything, be it golf, tennis, UFC, swimming, or driving a car, it's a sport. If you've never tried it, peel your fat ass off the couch and see if you can't loosen up an artery clot 'cause it might be good for you. If it requires competing against anyone or thing, it's a sport regardless of whether YOU think it requires athletic ability.

Life long Celtics fan here so it's basketball for me, love the Sox and if the Bruins ever get a new owner I'll get back rooting for them.

Thankfully, here in the UK , Sky is showing re-runs of America's Game every Saturday, so that will have to do for me.
I've really enjoyed watching the Welsh in the Six Nations Rugby, and eagerly await next week's game against the French.
For betting enthusiasts in the UK and Ireland, the Cheltenham horse racing festival begins tomorrow for 4 days. A pilgrimage there is a must for all those who follow the sport.
I have taken an interest in NASCAR due to Dario Franchetti,as he is Scottish, and I used to sit beside his brother at soccer games in Glasgow. He still goes to games when he comes over and takes his beautiful wife as well!
Sorry Sox fans, I've tried and tried but Baseball is not for me. I don't get it. I think having played might have helped. Same with NBA and NHL. I think you have to have grown up in that culture.
And although I'm almost totally weaned off it, soccer at this time of year when the prizes are being handed out still draws me to it.
Glasgow Celtic are my team.

This might sound entirely bizarre, but horse racing is my sport after football's done. The Super Bowl is over with right about the same time the preps for the big spring/early summer three year old races start up. I still follow racing in the fall, but my attention is somewhat divided at that point. :)

As far as more mainstream sports go, I follow Tulane University's baseball and basketball teams and that's about it.

UFC is not a sport. It is an organization.

The sport is called mixed martial arts (MMA). Hence my screen name here.

Go watch Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, BJ Penn, Kazushi Sakuraba, Fedor Emelianenko, Wanderlei Silva, Genki Sudo and other great fighters and tell me that this isn't an incredible display of talent and technique. It also feeds the hunger that football fulfills; it can be violent, but every competitor knows what to expect when they enter.

I will always be a football fan first and foremost, I grew up watching the NFL. That said, MMA is right up there as the most exciting sport in the world. It is so primitive, but natural, and decided in a way that makes so much sense. If you like (the current state of) boxing but not MMA, that is fine, but I don't understand it.

BTW UFC has some great fighters, but probably only about 50% of the world's best MMA fighters are there because Dana White is a clown (but he is a Patriot fan LOL).

If you are truly interested in seeing what I am talking about, you should check out some PRIDEFC fights, the first DREAM event (on March 15), K-1 Hero's fights, EliteXC upcoming events , Cage Rage, Strikeforce, or anything.

I already prefer boxing over football, but I watch that, Tennis and NBA.

I highly doubt that, you need years and years of training in all aspects of MMA before you can even remotely be competitive. It's not something you can just walk into because you were ripped and a bad ass Linebacker.

Ask Johnnie Morton how easy it is...

NHRA, baby....from the week after the SB until late into November.

Drag racing on ESPN.

Baseball, Basketball. Used to not watch the Celtics a lot, but now I watch them and NCAA a lot.

European soccer for me (Manchester United to be specific). One of the great things about soccer (at least in Europe) is that the season starts in August and ends in May. I wish American football lasted that long. :(

I'm that weird guy that likes soccer.

I got so riled up about MMA that I forgot to mention I am/have been a Celtics diehard.

MotoGP motorcycle racing (also watch AMA Superbike and World Superbike Racing) :)

He tested positive for roids after that fight as well.....:bricks:

HAHA yep. He tested positive in the pre-fight 'roid tests, and then he refused to take one after he was decapitated.

Two months is not enough time to fight anyone even close to worldclass at MMA. Bernard Ackah, his opponent that evening, is nothing to write home about, but football tackles just don't cut it in against solid takedown defense.

Teams/athletes I like:

Celtics
Red Sox
Liverpool
England National Rugby and football teams
Bruins
Georges St. Pierre
Shogun
Anderson Silva
Lyoto Machida
