Sure we need Vollmer, but the OL has not blocked well for a couple of months now for the pass or the run even with Vollmer . I think that's the reason so many people place the OL as the greatest concern.Nothing will matter if the ol can't pass block. We need vollmer back healthy and effective.

Getting Edelman back will help that a lot. The more "quick release" players we have the less time the OL needs to protect and the less likely a team is to send extra rushers with real WR out there. You're right that the OL needs to be better but Edelman will help a lot too.Nothing will matter if the ol can't pass block. We need vollmer back healthy and effective.
Because the team has already exercised due caution with his injury. The average time to return to the NFL with this injury has elapsed (he could have played last week), he has been practicing without any apparent setbacks, and if they lose the divisional round there is no AFC championship game. Of course we do not know anything for certain, but unless he has pain, in which case he would stop practicing, we can be confident he will play. While many of us "assumed" he was ready to play vs the NYJ and he'd definitely be ready for the divisional round...perhaps they were eyeing the AFC Championship? We've heard nothing from the team r.e. his status (other than perfunctory injury report designations) so how do we know the only reason they didn't IR him was because they hoped he could play in the AFC Championship should they make it?
I'm still baffled why people are acting like its a certainty he will play, and some even acting like it doesn't matter that he missed 2 months.shudder... There is a lot of hope and expectations riding on his foot. Mentally this would be a big blow.
What makes you feel confident in the division round? We finished 2-4 and will be playing a team that is better than any of those 6 teams.I just hope they ease Edelman back into the swing of things. I am concerned about re-injury of course. Hopefully Waddle will play well and Vollmer will get some good work in to take pressure off the passing game so we can run the ball more. I feel confident in the divisional round so I would try to save Edelman for the AFCCG and beyond, for when we really need him. If Amendola plays too, that is just an added boost. I'm not a LaFell fan, but do think he will look better with Dola and JE in the game. Not to mention, lets see how Keshawn Martin looks with those guys in there too.
We Lose Book it...have you seen the Offense since he left even against $h!t Teams?
No we can win without Edelman IFIs this overstated? The put 28, 27 and 33 on the bad teams, and took the 12-4 Broncos and the 10-6 Jets to OT on the road.
I'm purposefully ignoring Miami.
I think it's enough offense to win, but it pales compared to what the first 10 games looked like.

Mentally a big blow to fans maybe but I'm sure the players are preparing to go forward without him while hoping he can be ready.
If we can't win without him, I doubt we can win with him in the shape he will be in.
So I see you have reason to think its possible. I have yet to see why it is likely. He couldn't play 4 days ago. Until there is some significant change I am skeptical he can in 10 more.He started practicing again on December 11th, about 4 weeks ago. He ran routes cutting off the injured foot at least as early as December 16th and looked sharp according to Kevin Duffy of MassLive. The next Patriots game is January 16th. There is pretty good reason to think he'll be ready to play better than any other Pats WR.
