What Has Staff Learned About The Players On the OL

I was hoping Mayo and Trent Brown could have worked things out knowing Trent was mostly pissed at BB. I was jeered and chastised for even suggesting that now tell me which Tackle on this Team is better than Trent Brown?? Yeah I didn't think so: It was no secret that we were Drafting a QB at least have decent Protection in place. I wished we had signed Trent Brown to a contract at least for a year and then move on we would be in a much better place than we are now. We'll see Trent Brown Protecting Burrow game one what could have been.
I also thought Trent Brown also protected well when healthy. However, it looks like a good team decision not to resign him. Onwenu showed up to training camp at 350 lbs, too fat to play tackle in the new wide zone system, and Judon talked himself out of town. Some players need a feared direct disciplinarian like Bill. I even think Brown hinted at this on his return to the Patriots from the Raiders.

What they should have done is get a quality LT early in the FA period. It is inexcusable that they did not.

For instance what did Tyrone Smith cost? Not that much. but I guess that the Patriots were saving money, but for what? Certainly not to give Judon a new contract. I don't get it.

Here is the scouting report on Smith "When Tyron Smith is healthy, he is an impenetrable brick wall as a blindside protector, no matter the matchup."
Tyrone Smith wasn't coming here. You're using Felger's favorite argument 'meh just throw money at them!', but this guy is at the end of his career and wanted a contender. He's already got plenty of money.

No Andy I just read the box scores. The kid is 25, he got progressively better last year as the year went on. Not saying a ton but he improved. Obviously he has improved this off-season. He is a big guy who can move. Not saying the kid is going to be an all pro.

And to answer your question. Rallman, Ekwonu and Moore. Maybe not in that order because Ekwonu sucked last year. But he's young too. I'm not sure it was close as to who the worst left tackle was last season, Ekwonu was simply bad. Orlando Brown was hot garbage too.

Again it's a league wide issue.
Wow you clearly think highly of Lowe comparing him favorably to a 6th overall pick who has started for 2 years a 3rd rounder who by all accounts has a decent rookie year and progressed a lot on year 2 and a 3 year starter on a winning team.
I don’t see him anywhere near those guys

Now I ask do you watch the games? Being picked 6th is meaningless. That kid outright was terrible last year. Go ask any Carolina fan. Ralmann is still not good. Moore was bad. And why is it other teams players can progress but our guy can't? That is a terrible mentality that seems to permeate this fan base/forum.

You don't see him anywhere near those guys because you don't want to. Or you simply aren't aware of how many sacks, pressures and penalties those three had last year.

They were all better than Lowe by a lot.

Quite the contrary I have always been optimistic and positive about patriot players. It is hard to find players I have ripped, but the ones I do are pathetic.
Lowe is pathetic.

There are at least 31 LTs and probably 50 better than what we have.
Upgrading from a guy who shouldn’t be on the team to a guy who is at least one of the 32 best probably impacts a team as much as upgrading from an average to a top 5 at the position
Sucks that the Pats are 3rd in waiver wire claims, because any decent OL released probably gets claimed before the Pats can.

More likely can get a decent OT for a late pick so the cutting team can salvage something.

Remember getting Leon Gray during the final cutdown?

Good times!

You win you're right. They were all pros, what was I thinking. I mean being drafted 6th overall means you're an instant hall of famer. Jesus what was I thinking.
Enjoy.

Lowe leaves practice with an injury. They also had this to say...

"New England's offensive line was one of the worst in the NFL last season, and it wasn't expected to be much better in 2024. While Lowe isn't a great option to start at left tackle, the other options aren't much better. "

Of course you know that’s not what said.
Why you gotta be a ***** about it?
Reasonable people can disagree about players.
Do you think Carolina would trade straight up? Indy? Pitt?
I think there is no chance.

And for the record I hope you are right and I am wrong about him, but everything I’ve seen says he’s not even a quality backup.

When it rains. No mention of what the nature of the injury was in the article. Any more info from anywhere else?
