What Do You Want?

I mean, you know who's too expensive?

Mike Onwenu making 19 million/yr for the next 2 years.
Jelani Tavai making 16 million (total) over the next 3 years.
Rhamondre Stevenson making 9 million a year over the next 4 years.

And we're still 130 million under the cap.

How about spending some of that money that needs to be spent on someone good? Instead of Kyle Dugger at $14.5 million a year over the next 3?

I get being conditioned to not overspend over the last few decades, but holy ****, you're already way overspending on trash, and you're still wayyy under the cap floor. So you overpay for Tee Higgins. Oh well. When he does play, he's significantly better than anyone else in the WR room. And if you sign him for 4 years, you maximize him for the duration of Maye's rookie deal.
You make perfect sense and I agree with you. The team only spent becuase FA was **** show and wanted to change the minds of those who said they don't spend as they were last I think in cash spending..? so all those players you mentioned were the beneficiary of the timing. Good for them.. it's smart on thier parts if a organization wants to pay you.. you take it!.. no brainer. Love Higgins.. but we have so many holes to plug.

What do I want? I want the Patriots to actually participate in Free Agency... AND I want them to seriously pursue trades... there are guys under contract out there that can be moved...

Browns LT, Jedrick Wills Jr... he's got some issues, no doubt... But is in the Void Year of his current deal...
Browns RT, Jack Conklin... cap casualty? hes over 30, but could really solidify the right side...
Niners WR Deeboo Samuel... he might not be available this year... contract wise, 2026 is the out...
Eagles WR AJ Brown... heavy contract... and like DeeBoo, his "out" really doesn't arrive until 2027...
Jets WR Garrett Wilson ... probably won't happen... eh, make the call anyway
Bengals Edge Trey Hendrickson... wants a new deal, is 30... bengals got some decisions to make
Jaguars WR Christian Kirk... at least kick the tires... see how rehab is going... cheap money on this one
Falcons TE Kyle Pitts ... production has leveled off... would be a steal considering his age and potential upside...
My Dermatologist here in Green Bay (who was born and raised here) is a Falcons Fan. I saw him the other day for my 6 Month Check-Up. We always talk Football. I told him that had I drafted Kyle Pitts, I would have made him a WR instead of a TE (although he would be a solid blocker as a WR which the Patriots like). At 6'6 and 245 when he was drafted, and with 4.4 something speed, he could have dominated as a 1 inch taller and 5 pound heavier Calvin Johnson. He agreed. I wouldn't mind trading for him if 1. The terms as far as draft picks were not horrible. 2. His health situation was solid. And 3. We used him as primarily a WR (either an X and/or Y).

Im somewhat on the fence with him but honestly if hes there the talent and potential is too tempting for me. If we miss out then i probably will be disappointed but carter/graham/tet could wind up better for us.
I'm on board with Carter, Graham, Tet, Kenneth Walker, Will Johnson, and Jalon Walker. I also wouldn't be unhappy with Getting Jack Sawyer somewhere in the draft and Singleton/Hampton/Sanders at RB.

A WR and LT in free agency would be ideal. Maybe 2 WRs and 2 or 3 Olinemen. Obviously Tee Higgins would be ideal and then maybe one more WR. And then the top LT available and some depth linemen. Thats my hope.

Instead we tagged thuney for 16 million, then ultimately allowed him to walk in FA.. developed Myers who left over 1 million dollars..
Yep thats exactly what happened.

Woulda coulda shoulda

Who?
FAs, I mean. For WRs, it's Tee Higgins or the Wal-Mart dumpster again.
Or…..

We get a professional WR coach and get something out of Polk and Baker.

Yeah they probably won’t become all pros, but they are a sunk cost and may be redeemable to be useful.

You all remember David Givens rookie season?

Not likely since there was nothing memorable, but he spent the off-season with the Jugs machine, and we know how that turned out.

Look...it's not my money but sorry, Tee Higgins is not worth Justin Jefferson dollars because he misses 1/4 of the snaps and is not at the same level of production.

Saying, "there is no one else" is a bad arguement.

Better off trading for someone.

Improvement is what I am always looking for during a rebuild. I want the team to improve in every facet of the organization all the way from ownership to players.

I want the coaching staff to do a better job this year than they did last year. I want the team to add players in free agency and the draft. I want to see ownership improve their their spending by signing the checks for large contracts. I want to see the rookies and young players improve throughout the season.

The biggest area I want to see improvement on the field is at the line of scrimmage. Pats need to do a better job of winning both line of scrimmages. That will take improvement from the coaches, improvement from the front office and the players.

"I want everything, and I want it now", Sorry had to say this, that is a direct quote from my two-year old son (25 years ago) that I always think of when people ask me what I want. .

Bring players that want to play tough football. I love tough teams that run the ball (almost to a fault) and defensive line that owns the line of scrimmage. WR's that block and a TE that blocks as well as O-linemen.

Fancy trick plays can help at times, but smashmouth football is needed in January.

Looks like Tee Higgens will be the big prize.

Pats also need to target T’s.

FS would be nice so the overpaid Dugger can go back to being the #3rd S and patrol his short area of the field.

Edge was a massive need and now DL is as well.
Never got the impression the Duggar fully recovered from whatever was going on with his ankle, he fell too far to be playing the way he was post injury..
We will find out next TC if he is still recovering..

I remember that! Givens was a 7th round pick??.. you make perfect sense. Simply having the right coaching, can make all the difference in a player.. I believe under Vrabel polk and bakers can become heavy contributing players.. I still think we trade for a guy on the outside.. so that takes the pressure off polk and baker they can play freely without any pressure.

This coming Off-Season is not surprising when considering how the last few seasons have been a huge Flustercluck for the team on multiple fronts. The team has ample money this year and I'm told next year as well. And yet, the positions that we could use filled with young and solid caliber players for Free Agency in 2025 are scarce. Pretty much par for the course. However, if those in charge know what they're doing for once (even just this year), moves can be made that could greatly improve the team's talent, not just for the 2025 season, but season's beyond. One can only hope.

He was poor in coverage last season.

I'll all for paying him $35m a year if he plays 16 or 17 games, catches 100 balls, 1400yds and 10TDs.

You want to pay him $35m and he misses 1/4 of the snaps be my guest.
Well last year he missed 4 games with injury and the team sat out the starters, the last game of the year the team sat all l the starters. This year and last were contract years for him. you dont play and risk further injury. It is a business to them.

He was poor in coverage last season.
Coverage has never seen his strength. The question is why was he playing free safety so much, and being isolated one in one against outside wide receivers so much? Belichick played him at free safety a lot in 2023 as well due to Peppers’ emergence, but he never got isolated against wide outs and, while not great in coverage at FS, wasn’t as bad as this year.
