What did Drake Maye learn today?

You responded to positive comments with “there is no tape on him”.

He played extremely well.

He did play well, but this seems the weakness showing up in his first game.

No. Please identify the ones you are talking about.

I have a life.

If you disagree that fine. There were crossing routes where he threw behind the receiver and out patterns where he was just off.

A rookie QB has an advantage because there is no film. That is a fact. That is why so many crappy QBs look like all stars in the first few games to first season. For an example, look at the previous QB of the Pats.

However, it is not all downhill. The advantage covers the rook until they can adapt and assimilate into the NFL. If they can't, they get ****canned.
The disadvantage of playing in your first NFL game far outweighs any “don’t “have him on tape” advantage
Rookies get better, not worse.

I was expecting better than a 2/5. Bedard is making it out like he played poorly.
Bedard is on right now, saying Maye was basically horrible. He even brought up the "bad snap" that seems to happen when he is under center. Man I want to call in an roast his ass.

Hey dummy, in the preseason and now he is playing with backup centers he hasn't worked much with. Nevermind the one this week who practiced for two days with Maye. GTFO with your BS.

Haha
“You have a life” but you claim to have reviewed the game, put a number of those throws, and are arguing here, but can’t post which ones to back it up because “you have a life”. lol. Why not just say “I remember that I think the there were some do I made it up. “

Where did I claim to review the game?

You're more inaccurate than Maye.

Oh god, he didn't have rapport with all these WRs.

Face it, it takes weeks to form consistency with offensive weapons. It takes 1st team reps, week in and week out to learn tendencies and all that goes with that.

The only stat that matters from his start. He blew doors off of Caleb Williams start against the Texans. I watched both games and it wasn't even close. Williams looked like a high schooler. Maye looked like a pro 60 percent of the time.

I was only stating off the college tape was a few minutes long, and I saw before we drafted him Maye was inconsistent on the accuracy of his throws.

I saw the same thing watching the game one time Sunday.

Who says Caleb Williams is going to be an elite pro?

True. Never said it was a true NET advantage. It is a advantage that slowly goes away. However, like you said that are multiple disadvantages to making a first start as a rookie. Drink from a fire hose comes to mind.

I assume if you are commenting on the number of throws you think were inaccurate you would have reviewed the game.
Didn’t know you were just taking out your ass.

Why would I need to review the game?

It was specifically what I was watching the game for. Maye's accuracy.

I can handle that on one view.

Everyone pre draft. Everyone.

Yes there were a couple of things that showed up from his college tape. So far, Maye has shown the ability to correct things that went wrong. It happened in preseason and my guess is it will this Sunday. There will be other things that show up no doubt and he will have to correct those.

Maye will be the best QB out of the top 3 for sure when it is all said and done IF he develops

I'm on the same side as you.

I think the guy has all the tools except this.

But this is a big this.

Big difference is he is 100 percent of the time focused on football. It's a job, versus needing to study and graduate as well. He's a smart kid, seems pretty self aware of what he needs to work on. I think by the end of the season he will be week in and week out making everyone say holy ****.

Also factor in the confidence of the offensive weapons now. Pop tasted the EZ, as did Boutte. That **** is like a drug and now they want more.

The only thing that kills a guy like Maye is picks.

It's the reason they couldn't win with Bledsoe or Grogan.

The most important super power is ball protection.

Can we show the Good things about Maye.

It sounds like this is an anti start maye thread. Well if Sunday was a microcosm of how he’ll do this season, then its a huge argument FOR starting maye. Of course youd love to not see him turn the ball over too much and not get too beat up , but the reality is its going to happen with a rookie who is playing on a bad team that will play from behind most of the time.

We saw him make some really bad mistakes early on. The first pick was awful, he missed throws he should make, and he got hit alot. But then we saw him get up and get better as the game went on. Matt ryan mentioned that his footwork improved as the game went on which is a great sign. This isn’t a performance you want from him once hes a finished product but hes not that and thats not what people are celebrating. Comparing this most first career starts is what we should be doing and from that standpoint you have to be impressed.

Bledsoe’s sack rate was his achilles heel. Picks are bad, no doubt, but sometimes risk is necessary for reward. Regardless, yesterday he threw one interceptable ball all game on an errant throw (the other was batted.) This isn’t really concerning right now.

I repeat myself but Drew’s problem was lack of anticipation of the receiver getting open maybe because of lack of pre or post snap recognition.
