WFAN's Mike Francesa is not a happy man today

When they punted I was hoping it would be a bit shorter. As I recall, Jules fair caught the punt at the 35 yard line with 3 seconds left.

Correct me if I am wrong, but one of the most obscure rules in the NFL rulebook allows you to do a placekick with no defense on a fair-caught ball.

Thus Bill could have opted to give Gost a shot at a 75 yard game-winning field goal.

Such an extremely long kick is normally not makeable, but in this instance there would be no defense lined up against him. An extremely low trajectory kick would be just fine, as no block is possible. It would be like a kickoff, and Gost has at least hit the goalpost or crossbar a couple of times on kickoffs.

What I don't know is if the clock would run, so that if he missed, would ATL have time left?

Anyone know for sure?

that ran through my mind...

Ran through my mind as well. Just too long.

Mike has hit rock bottom. Says 4-0 is better than 5-2. I get the whole being undefeated in the game has a mystique to it, but in no way does that make 4-0 better than 5-2.

Lol, there is no way anyone listening could possibly believe this and he likely knows it. I can't believe he's actually paid to spout such nonsense like he has a real job contributing to society.

Since we are listening to WFAN, here's Joe & Evan's thoughts. Even as Jest fans, they were sort of complimentary to BB and the Pats. Lots of Falcon wishing though.

Not surprising, Joe and Evan have these things called "professionalism" and "self awareness" which Francesa utterly lacks. Francesa is a strange guy, and he has an insane attitude towards Belichick. I have no idea why that is, maybe others on this forum who have spent more time listening to him have heard him explain what the problem was between them. I get Russo, he's just a New York guy who is sick of watching the Patriots be in the mix every year; at least he is relatively open about that. Francesa is at a whole other level entirely; the difference between an egoist and a narcissist I suppose.

Just put on for a few minutes

He's once again talking about how Joe Montana is better than Tom Brady and how he "nevuh threw a pick in the SB or loss one"

And the dumb New Yorkers are calling and agreeing with "well he only won the last two SBs because of the two worst play calls of all time"

Big Mike going out in peak moronic form.

He's trolling for dollars.

Is this moron gonna say how lucky the giants where against us following the samuel dropped interception and the welker drop? He keep's talking about all this luck and he doesn't mentioned his hometown team. He's a giants guy. What an a hole. His soul must be hurting lol

Brady has surpassed him lol. No argument anymore. Montana had rice. Salary cap era as well. Those 49ers teams where stacked with no salary cap.

Those dumbasses won their titles against us with some help from us. Why don't they bring that up? Lol

I put Joe and Evan higher up the scale than MF, but I've heard Joe go after callers in a way that doesn't exude professionalism. Like he went after Ira basically saying he shills for the Jets because the Jets staff throws him some attention and some perks. While I appreciated the Jets Fan on Jets Fan Violence, it didn't seem very professional to me, unless he had some incontrovertible evidence in hand.

It was great hearing HoF lineman Jackie Slater on SoundFX. Jackie played from 1976-1995. Paraphrasing...

"No disrespect to great quarterbacks in the 70s, 80s, and 90s that I faced, or those that have played since, but that guy, #12, is the best QB ever to play the game. There really is no debate."

Of course, Terry Bradshaw agrees!

Rob Parker says Brady is still not the best. Simply because of "fluke" plays etc....

Rob Parker is simply a clown. He's so stupid it's obvious. He was on Undisputed claiming Brady was not the best QB ever, only the luckiest QB ever. Shannon Sharpe laughed his butt off, didn't even bother trying to correct him because Parker is so obviously an idiot.

As for Francesca. Who is this nobody and why do I care? Another hater? Good for him, let him retire with the taste of bile in his mouth, seeing Brady win yet again. Haters gonna hate! Enjoy the crow dude!

If we beat them 50-0 and Brady threw 6tds and 0pics they would say Atlanta sucked and we got a freebie.

They scour the tape looking for any non call, "Ooops should'v ran it game over!!!!!! see you did't actually win", Sour grapes, miserable, hateful dbags and we consider their opinion FK THEM!!!

"Fluke" plays. Hogwash. That goes both ways. David Tyree's catch with Rodney Harrison all over him. Jermaine Kearse's catch with Butler in position to knock him out of bounds. Edelman's catch felt like the football gods finally gave us one.

Dean Smith heard the same thing when he retired with the most wins in Division 1 college basketball history. The pass at the end of the '82 NCAA championship by Freddie Brown to James Worthy after Michael Jordan hit "The Shot." Then the phantom TO by Chris Weber in the '93 NCAA finals.

Fluke plays only matter if both teams are in a position to win the game. Getting to that point in a big game is what matters.

I had never heard of Rob Parker until he started saying ridiculous things about Tom Brady.

And from what I've seen, saying ridiculous things about Tom Brady is the only thing that Rob Parker ever does.

I still don't know who Rob Parker is.

Anyone hear him with this one earlier?

"There is a mystique to winning and being unbeaten in the championship game. Brady doesn't carry that mystique, he's already been beaten in the game, in back to back games.

The bottom line is, what I said is, would you rather be 5-2 or would you rather be 4-2? That's a debate, I would pose that question to ten coaches and see what they'd say. I wonder what the answer would be"

-Mike Francesca

This might bet he dumbest thing I've ever heard him say. "Would you rather have 5 Super Bowls or 4 Super Bowls? That's a very interesting question up for debate" You can't make this **** up.

Yeah in his world 7 conference championships are worse than 4 conference championships, better to lose divisonal games than get to conference championships.

His hatred of the PAtriots stems from BB punking the NY market and his friend Parcells when he left the dumpster fire called the NY Jets for the Patriots. Frencessa never recovered, nor his ex partner Chris Russo,

He hates BB for the same reason Kensil, Pash , Goodell and the Jets hates the Pats.

Atlanta had no timeouts left
And they were just bamboozled on their two previous drives. Still and all, if it was BB in that situation, I think he might have tried to do sideline passes down the field and get into FG range. Why not try it with Jones, who killed us with a couple of great sideline catches during the game, at least on 1st & second down? If you don't get anywhere then run on 3rd down & play for OT. Did we have any TO's left? Can't remember.
