We're on to Kansas City

Keep Pat Mahomes in the pocket- controlled but aggressive.

Mahomes is fully capable of just standing in the pocket and throwing the ball from there. He has pretty much a complete skillset, as a QB- stationary or running.

However he does have one glaring weakness that plays right into our hands, he is susceptible to disguised coverages. We are fond of putting window dressings on our coverages, or otherwise disguising them. This is AFAIK, his kryptonite- he will identify coverage at the snap, and that's it. It's stuck in his head for the duration of that snap, no matter what happens or how the coverage morphs.

He also has one other weakness- for every beautiful pass he makes, he'll strong arm one into very small or non-existent windows (that's the impatient rookie in him). Whenever he does that, we must take advantage.

Can the Patriots Defense force KC Offense to punt? Love the Patriots but I am not taking any bets on that. KC is Stacked on Offense from top to bottom and we have holes on Defense. We are not Playing a depleted Colts Team or a AFC Least Miami team we are playing the Best Team in Team in the AFC right now. Our only hope is can Brady and our Offense keep up?? One thing is certain our Defense just don't match-up well with their speed on O we are just too Slow.

We will find out if our defense is what it is or if they can raise their game for a better opponent.

I didn’t watch the game....but 5 turnovers by the jags? How many of those were jags mistakes vs chief takeaways?

Well, on one interception, Bortles threw his fast ball directly into the back of the helmet of one of his own OL. The Jags were knocking on the door at the time, and a KC defender dove for the ricochet and came up with it.

In the first half, the Jags drove down to the KC 3-yd-line twice, turning the ball over on downs (with the score only 10-0 for KC), and then on the pick described above. Bortles also gave up a pick-six to a pretty nice play by KC D-lineman Chris Jones.

In the 2nd half, Bortles threw another pick at the KC-22, turned the ball over on downs at the KC-11, and threw another pick (game-ender) at the KC-14.

IOW, Bortles and the Jags offense did a lot of stupid sh it that (hopefully) Brady and the Pats offense can avoid.

You won't learn anything. Chiefs will score a ton of points because they are loaded offensively.

NE will score more because they can

4 INT's by Bortles.

And passes that only Bortles can deliver:

Not going to get that from Brady.

That second one looks like one of mine.

I'm not buying this defensive improvement that the media is harping on with them this morning. The Jaguars lost that game because of Bortles. He realistically could have thrown 2-3 more INTs than he did. When he wasn't turning the ball over and screwing up the protections, the Jaguars were having no trouble moving the ball on them. This should be a big game for Michel.

I will never bet against the Patriots as long as they have Brady/BB. BB has additional days for strategy versus Reid's time management. Plus, BB will have more tape on Mahomes. Kelce should be good for a 15 yard penalty. Brady has more time with his "new" receivers. Crowd noise will make for major difference (Arrowhead). Regardless of outcome, will probably ignore media's take.

Stomped him in KC. The Pats faced the Jags away in 100 degree heat on the field (not a hyperbole) As stated, this game ain't on the home field for KC last time I looked at the schedule.

And stopping a team on third down means little when you cannot stop that team on other downs and elect to give up points then, which makes your statistic a little odd. They are the 12th worst on points surrendered. Giving up points is kind of a big deal, and the primary metric for defenses. For example, giving up the lowest yards on defense against the passing offenses means little when the same defense gets ripped to shreds against the run so teams need not bother to pass.

But feel free to stop by and profess your surprise after the game if the Pats win and prove that point. FYI, they are winning because the offense has been good enough to offset the crap defense. If that D has attitude, then it isn't showing on the field in shutting down offenses.

Its the old dont watch or be a Pats fan for merely pointing flaws with the Pats and giving props to other team.

You have not seen any Chiefs games if you think that the NE defense can shut down this KC offense. Alex Smith is not walking out of the Chiefs locker room anymore. Reid was limited with his playbook with Smith, but its wide open.

I was just saying it’s important for us to keep him in the pocket when we rush rather then letting him have a hole where he can just go through and throw. Should of worded it better.

I saw TY law saying how they use to change coverages 1-3 times a okay when they were against a young Peyton. Maybe it happens again?

Is Houston going to play? He was a handful in that Denver game. They had to double team him. He was a big reason they beat Denver in Denver. If he's hurt that will help.

I think they can raise it up. They need to force two punts minimum really. We don’t need a philly like shootout

KC is one of the worst run defenses in the league by every measurable metric. Denver was running almost at will on them two weeks ago. I'd expect a very steady diet of Michel this week which should open up PA nicely.

This is a classic mid season big game match up. The offense is showing signs of becoming a juggernaut and the defense is starting to put good games/series together.

The Patriots remind me of an old Chevy Blazer I used to own. It was a beast but it would never start up firing on all cylinders rather it would sputter up for 4 or 5 seconds and then Vrooom eveything would kick in. Haha

Hard to predict a score for this game but it seems we've seen this show time and time again. "We're on to Cincinnati ", "Varsity Jackets " , "@ mile high then @ two mile high (Mexico ) and many others.

To me this game feels similar to previous Steeler's games. Good QB, loaded offense but a mediocre defense. If the defense can slow down "show time" (lmao ) a few times it may be enough for Brady and crew to pull this one out.

OTOH it could be a Patriot's blowout. Haha

Love these kind of games.

Let's go

Watching these thrown by bottles I can’t help but rethink that: quarterbacks who are about to play tennis patriots sell their souls and play at a level they have before, and never have again

It’s voodoo like

It will all depend on your expections. For me holding KC below 30ish points would be a success that our offense needs to take advantage of.

If people go into this game expecting the defense to shut them down then they will be disappointed.

It is all about complimentary football. Sustain long drives on offense and finish them. Make them go longer distances with good ST plays. And slow them down often enough with the defense to stay ahead in terms of score.

Chiefs didn't appear to tackle well yesterday. Defensively, they're porous on early downs, but they can apply pressure in obviously passing situations. I expect a quick passing game that stresses them horizontally and forces then into nickel packages -- test them to see if they can prevent YAC, and then hit them with a hurry up offense that can also morph into run plays from a shotgun formation. Take advantage when they tire, and start to hit PA downfield with Gronk and Gordon. My guess is that the passing game becomes more vertical in the second half.

Or more likely, I'm completely wrong.
