"Well, Dan Campbell only won 3 games his first season..."

I think you gotta evaluate Mayo based on his own merit. Roster is bad, but he could have the same wins and also not look this ugly on the field. There's little reason for optimism with Mayo right now

Campbell also inherited a team that had a QB, a fully formed offensive line, and a glut of draft picks.
Matty P's last year they were ahead in games and players did stupid things. It was like the year Stephenson and Meyers lateraled to lose the game. RB fumbled at the goal line etc. They did have some players.

coaching aside

We’d need two top 10 RBs Montgomery, Gibbs
A top 10 TE Laporta
A top 5 WR St Brown
A top 20 WR J. Williams
Arguably the best C in the league Ragnow
Top 5 guard Zieter

And that’s only covering offense:

If you can promise me something similar to that it’s worth Mayo sucking for another year

Getting sick and tired of hearing people mention Dan Campbell's name in relation to Jerod Mayo, implying that since Dan Campbell only won 3 games his first year and has since turned it around, Jerod can/will do it too.

NEWS FLASH: Dan Campbell is the massive exception to the rule. Dan Campbell is somewhat of a unicorn. There have been many coaches that started out with such seasons like this and went on to do jack ****. Most of them got fired after their first year. Some got fired mid-season.

I went back to 2009 to see how many first-time head coaches ended their seasons with 4 or fewer wins (since that is the max Mayo will achieve). I invite everyone to read below and let me know your thoughts on if this list is full of guys just like Dan Campbell who turned it around after year 1 and got their team to become conference powerhouses in year 2/3.

Dan Campbell had a vision and he stuck to it...and inspired his players to get on board (and he had a much better team to start with). The opposite is happening in Foxborough...no identity and after season 1, players are starting to voice their displeasure with how things are going.

If Mayo went undefeated this year or dominated, people would be calling him the second coming…but he didn’t.

Losing does that to teams/players. It’s amazing what a W does for them. That being said, is it worth it to lose draft ranking? I’d say no. Then again WTF do I know.
