yeah - Just heard this on WEEI, I'm over here cracking up!
I love Belichick, so no one should take this in a derogatory way, but Dante is a prime example that BB's super secret, close to the chest style of addressing the media is not the only way to be a good coach. Dante is a straight shooter, and he's one of the best at what he does of all time (maybe THE best). I believe that Belichick's way is the best way for Bill to do it (best to be true 100% to yourself than to be 80% of someone else's style), but Dante is refreshing in his openness and confidence.
Scar is very high on Wynn. If there was any doubt about that, this article should dispel that.
Dante Scarnecchia: I am really confident in Isaiah Wynn
You all are ****ting on my guy Oldhouse.
Lol brutal. Basically gave him a pat on the head and said "He sucked but suckiness is his ceiling".
I'm pretty sure that Dante just put a bullet into the head of the "But he's not that bad!" theory.
Damned with faint praise...
I honestly can't recall Scar ever being as effusive about a player as he is about Isaiah Wynn.
As soon as Wynn makes it through a single NFL game without injury, my opinion of him will improve dramatically.
Well you're in luck! It happened two short months ago.
He's played one game in 2 seasons. Calling him fragile as glass is a disservice to glass.
thanks to Dante for calling it like it is,
He's missed a lot of time, there's no denying that. The question is whether he's more likely to miss time moving forward than your average player. Despite only playing 1.5 games career-to-date, I don't think we can reach that conclusion just yet.
Every opinion is incomplete; it can always change with new information. That's why I said if he survives a game my opinion will change. Right now my opinion is based on the available evidence, which says he can't.
Hmmmm.... Which of these best describes your position?
A) Wynn's track record is trending in the wrong direction.
B) Spending time on IR your first two seasons is more in line with guys who could never stay healthy than just two bad breaks.
C) We can say with confidence that Wynn is prone to injuries and will continue to get injured from here on out.
Two of these are supportable, one is not.
C. is not supportable. I don't make predictions. I have no idea what will happen. But I do know that Wynn has played 1 game in 2 seasons. So before I start relying on him to be the savior of this offense, I'd like to see him survive an NFL game. That's not predicting he won't. But it's not predicting he will either, which is equally unsupportable.
That's not even getting into the fact that his level of play even when theoretically healthy is also completely unproven.
