I agree with most of that. Emotional responses slow our minds. Like when Mac's eyes go down, that is due to an emotional response, like fear. Since Mac processed fine against Buffalo, we know that Mac can process what he sees fast enough if his mind is right.
Our emotions slow our brains processing speed. Ever thought of a great response to a criticism well after the criticism happened? Ever wonder why you didn't think of that rebuttal at the time of the criticism? Because at the time of the criticism you are reacting emotionally, whereas later when you have calmed down, your mind is free to think clearly so a rebuttal pops into your head. Mac is scared or something, and that clouds his ability to process quickly.
