NFL GAME DAY DISCUSSION Week 6: Other NFL games

Simmons, the one that got away

I would've kicked the FG, but can understand the call to go for it. King Henry was running all over them

Rough loss for the Bills. These kind of games can come back to bite you, especially with only one team getting a bye now.

BUF dropped from #1 seed to #4. Lol

No you don’t
Yes, I am just not a blind homer like you are when it comes to team flaws. I haven’t missed a patriots game since 30-17 loss at Atlanta in 95. Zolak started because Bledsoe got his shoulder crushed in SF

You sound like a clown thinking we can beat Buffalo for division title

Barfalo's fate...slightly less tragic than the Jete's

I liked the call to go for it. Put the fate of the game in the hands of a league leading offense instead of being behind the 8-ball. It didn’t work out, but it was the right call.

Clearly you would rather they lose and you can ***** about it than that they win.

They are 2 games out. That’s what I posted and you got triggered by it.

It was a stupid decision. There is only one bye team now.

Honest question…not looking to pick a fight: why do you think it was a stupid decision? And if it were on the 1-yard line, would it make sense to go for it? I only saw the last part of the game, so I don’t know if the Bills had a disadvantage in short yardage.

The "league leading offense" had 3 attempts to get into the end zone and failed. Had the "league leading offense", taken the field goal, the game would have gone into overtime, and the "league leading offense" would still have been in play.

The field goal was, essentially, automatic. That gets you into overtime. Instead, they are now trailing the Ravens, and have lost the tie breaker to the team that just beat them.

I didn’t get triggered by it. I posted a Famous quote by Jim Mora that clearly went over your head.

I’d like to know, how many excuses do you have left for belichick these past 2 years? I don’t think Bills heart is into this team anymore.

I think it was a bad decision because of the time left. They only had 0:22 secs w/ 2 TO (I think). Even if they make the 1 yard, they still had 2 yds to goal line. At that point, you can maybe run it once and if you fail you use a TO. Then what, 2 quick passes to try to score? Go for it again on 4th with 0:03 secs? They probably end up kicking fg anyway.

This is the same thing McCarthy did against the Pats but at least it was at the 1/2 yd and they were going for goal not a 1st down.

I would've kicked it in both instances. Take the points.

Yeah…I think going for one-yard makes it a bad call and bad risk/reward. If they’re going for the end zone, I think they‘re somewhere in the 50% range and prevailing in overtime is in the 50% range. So in that case I think it’s a judgement call, and I like putting the fate of the game in the hands of your offense.

But yes, by going for one yard, the reward falls short of the risk. All you were going to get is an additional chance to score a TD and still no sure victory.

I usually like going for it on 4th and goal near the 1, in the case of McCarthy, because if you miss, the team has the ball at the 1-yard line anyway. If it’s 50/50 (I don’t know if it is), that’s roughly 3.5 expected points versus 3 with the field goal, but in addition there’s the field position bonus as the team starts at the 1 and not the 25. The Cowboys fumbled, but that’s not something to expect. Of course, there is sometimes the factor that you just failed to get in three times.
