Good article if you have access

Highlights:
-A not-so-fun fact: since Buffalo hired head coach Sean McDermott in 2017, Patriots quarterbacks have thrown more interceptions than touchdowns against the Bills.
-McDaniels coached Brady over his last six games against the Bills. when he tossed four touchdowns and five interceptions.

-Also talks about Todd Downing as a red zone specialist as Pats rank 8th right now, at TN they ranked 1, 2, 9 and 8 with Downing there each year

Listening to Buffalo area sports radio, WGRZ 550am, this week shows what a breath of fresh air football talk can be, when the hosts AND the fans talk about game strategy.

It's entirely the opposite of what you get in Boston.

There is more Patriot analysis (a lot of it very good) than you get on 98.5. It's truly weird to compare the two. You'd think the Buffalo station was actually a Boston station.

Some of the takes are bad (they are worried about the great Patriot run defense without looking at all the yards given up on D). They are worried about it. All they need to do is look at Carolina's first drive.

They think the strength of the Patriots D is also the linebackers and that the CBs are weak. These are callers. So there is a level of unfamiliarity.

But it's interesting to hear them talk about the Patriots offense and the Bills struggles on D especially with speed on the perimeter.

Listening to Buffalo hosts, it would be an excellent strategy for the Patriots to use Marcus Jones on offense a little this week, and also to feature passes to Rham and Henderson out of the backfield. Also screen passes. Basically Buffalo's D is having trouble tracking speedier players when they get into the open field.

Don't tell Josh he should throw 20 screen, he'll do it.

We need Kyle Williams to emerge; keep Marcus Jones on Defense and ST's.

This is why I think the Patriots should win this one outright.

It's not like we lose by 50 to the Bills every time we play them. I just don't think the Bills are that good. Maybe they prove me wrong. but that defense is soft, they don't generate pressure, and the offense outside of Cook on the ground is Josh Allen trying to pull miracles out of his ass. It's just not a sustainable model long-term, but they don't really have any other options.

That was a dogshit team last year that played them that close, with a dogshit coaching staff.
You make good points. Let me ask? Could it be the bills didn't take us seriously especially last season? That we were able to have some success against them?

Highly agree McDermott is supposed to be a Defensive guy and last few seasons his defense has been volunerable. The YMCA coaching staff did play them close last season.

I personally felt specifically as a HC Vrabel is the best in the AFCE.. McDermott has had Allen since he took the job.. give Vrabel Allen and he wins a superbowl last season.

The bills got out on a dysfunctional Miami team, a rebuilding jets team with really no answer at QB.

They beat a fraudulent Ravens team who gave them the game week 1.

The saints made Buffalo earn it and rattler was making plays on thier defense.

On us, the passing yards allowed were inflated by weeks 1&2.. since that point we have given up under 150 yards passing and top 5 against the run.

Stopping the run is the first order of operations. With gonzo back in the mix I believe it's advantage us to have Allen have to drop back and throw it rather that letting cook get busy.

Twin Vrabel said he wants to maximize his best players in what they are best at.. keep Marcus where he is.. more Williams please! We drafted him to provide us a deep threat.. he seems to be comfortable in the system.. we need him on the field more.

I really wanted to see how K Bourne played with a guy like S Diggs; too bad we won't ever get to see that. This Offense couldn't use his 229 yards an 12.7 average: somebody here must have pissed him off. Terrible move by us.

I liked K Bourne too.. but he and Diggs pretty much play both positions.. he got hurt and fell out of rotation in camp... he has better opportunities in SF than here.. k Williams is the future.

Twin: I would have Never chose Hollins over him: Tarzan Hollins is not a very good Receiver Period! K Bourne had a 142 yards with Mac Jones piss me off: we literally gave him away.

Dude's getting less than 10 snaps a game that's not how you develop a player.

It's not downfield speed they are worried about. They are not down on their defensive backfield. They think the problem is tracking speed on the perimeter, running backs, screens to WRs and QBs etc.

But Marcus Jones would be no mystery in there on O: the D would know what's coming key on him. We need to Start Scheming Kyle Williams open.

No way in hell Williams goes #3. Penix is better than William's and will have a better career. Maye and Daniels, obviously, lol.
JJ might be better. Williams slightly better than Nix but Nix is a jag and always will be.
When you look back on it. Nix is being described by many, including jimmance, much liked they talked about Brady for the first decade plus of his career. A decent QB on a great team. It REALLY used to piss us off.

If the object of the game is to see who WINS, then Denver and Washington are the big winners, and as far as "draft value" go Denver wins by a mile

Agree with this.

Allen is probably right behind Mahomes as far as best QB in the league, but it's not a roster that's littered with All-Pros like the Eagles, Lions, and Ravens. It's a well coached team certainly, but they're not going to overwhelm teams with their talent.

We have a legit shot at beating these guys if we limit mistakes. We now have a really good coaching staff, infused our roster with some talent, our defense makes the necessary adjustments in game, and McD has our offense executing at a pretty high level.

Tell me you didnt watch that game without telling me...

The Bills slept walk through that Saints game. They were essentially yawning the entire game. They aren't going to unload against an inferior appointment and give away plays that can be useful against better opponents.

McDermott has talked about that.

We should be very worried that this D cannot stop Josh Allen.

I don't have that much faith in our edge rushers or our linebackers or our safeties. And Milt Williams (on a bum ankle) and Barmore are feast or famine up front. Yes, tackles for a loss, but then they get gashed for 9 yards.

We are very vulnerable to throws over the middle and to stopping the run, and these are 2 things the Bills excel at. They are not a team that hurts you on the boundaries.

They hurt you with Knox, Shakir and Cook, and Allen running it.

I'll say it again, it's not a matter of them knowing what's coming, it's a matter of stopping it.

IF Marcus Jones makes another play on Offense; maybe we should just keep him there. The world knows we need all the help we can get on that side of the ball.

Best analysis so far. They got not shot. JV versus Varsity on their field. Go get a head start on your Monday to do list this Sunday night...
