I didn't say they should - I was just saying that the idea of them even taking the field this weekend is a little crazy to even imagine. Albeit, the situation will at least be different if he's O.K. Like everyone else, I'm still processing it.

Currently, Buffalo is the #2 seed, but they have a chance at the #1 seed and a bye if they win both games with KC losing their Wk18. A loss this week and next week (hypothetically) would result in Buffalo being the 3rd seed.

Right. So « it’s purely seeding ».

Yes, BUF would benefit greatly by having the bye. But in the end, it’s two playoff teams who are looking to see where they will place in the tournament seeding.

It’ll be an unpopular position, because people (and fans) love « fairness » and want « everything to be fair ».

Life isn’t fair. It’s grossly unfair. The young player fights for his life, it’s unfair.

I guess I am saying that if the players are rightfully shook up, maybe going winning % and just skip this game, would make sense. The NFL will SAY it’s to be « fair » and fans will agree. But it’ll be for the $. Not fairness.

KC don't need to lose, Bills have the tiebreaker so simply winning their games is enough. Rest of your point stands

Buffalo is 12-3 currently. KC is 13-3. KC wins, they're at 14-3. Buffalo would have to win both to go to 14-3. Buffalo loses both and they can fall to #3. If KC loses then Buffalo only needs to win 1 game of the two remaining. That's what I was referring to.

So scary. Bad outcomes like this makes me think about how few times they happen relative to the violence of the sport.

IIRC, the Player's Association was the driving (if not deciding) force. They basically met, said we are not playing next week, and told the league.
