One thing this Patriots team seems to be developing is determination and execution in the face of adversity and challenges, which are usually essential to winning a title.
It was after the Broncos Monday nighter in 1980 when, in addition to lots of fights, one fan died in the parking lot.
Also 1980 only in the Orange Bowl, where the jinx was kept alive by Bob Baumhower who blocked John Smith's game-winning attempt and the Dolphins prevailed in overtime.
Appropriately depressing for that evening.
All true but NOTHING was more depressing to this fan than the dreaded 18-1 SB which I still am not capable of watching…I think this will be another dogfight.

The NFL sabotaged the Pats that year. All true but NOTHING was more depressing to this fan than the dreaded 18-1 SB which I still am not capable of watching…
Oh man. I wish I could ask my Dad this question pretty sure his answer would be SB42 but nobody died so that's a tough one.All true but NOTHING was more depressing to this fan than the dreaded 18-1 SB which I still am not capable of watching…
Was that the game where someone urinated on an EMT trying to revive some guy having a heart attack??? You would have thought we were at the Meadowlands.. Must have been a JETES fan up for the game....I was in Foxboro for the 1976 Monday Night 41 - 7 victory against the Jets. That was the game that almost got the Pats banned from MNF - a feat they “earned” 5 years later. I remember my 6 year old son “aging” 10 years from what he witnessed that night. Thursday night I’ll be hoping for the same score without the shenanigans.
This is another BIG game for us to win and continue our playoff drive. It’s also a good time to recall the last even BIGGER game we had with the Jets in Foxboro. It was the Divisional Playoff in 2011 and no “tip toeing” around it, the day Coach Football Fetish came to town with Mr Butt Fumble himself and beat us 28 - 21 when we were 14 - 2 and favorites to win. Remember the pre-game Welker “Foot in Mouth” presser that got him held out from starting the game?
So far it has been a strange year with underdog teams pulling off huge upsets (Pats vs Bills anyone?), but even though anything can happen, i’m pretty sure that Coach V. realizes this better than all of us and will be coaching accordingly…
The solution is to give it to teams coming off a bye week. They would play on a Sunday ( day 1)- have next sunday off ( day 8)- play Thurs ( day 12)- then play 10 days later ( day 22).Hate Thursday Night Football. I wish they would do away with it. But they won’t. These games make me nervous. I take nothing for granted. Go Pats
Ahhh the good old daze! And here we are after fires at stadiums, Super Flush Day at Schaefer, not to mention the historic opening traffic jam (got to seats midway 2nd quarter), blizzard at Harvard Stadium to cheer on our new hero Joe Kapp(??!!). chasing our 7th SB Win (not appearance)! Was that the game where someone urinated on an EMT trying to revive some guy having a heart attack??? You would have thought we were at the Meadowlands.. Must have been a JETES fan up for the game....
I remember a cold playoff game versus Jax in 2006. My almost 12 year old got offered beer by adults more time that I can count to " help warm him up" We declined...
That’s a very good idea and would likely lead to better games on Thursday nights. I really just don’t like the idea of nfl football on Thursday in general. Always feels weird. Has a preseason vibe. Just don’t like it.The solution is to give it to teams coming off a bye week. Yep , boutte was limited all 3 days but still out for the game. Betting its just playing things conservative and he plays in cincy. Interesting that rham and ellis practiced limited the first 2 days and dnp today
