That’s what happens when you have a good draft. The patriots haven’t had a good draft in years.

That’s why they always take our first rounder. That way we don’t embarrass ourselves lol

Eh not really. I’d rather have them win the division over KC.

We have the tiebreaker over KC and potentially not over the Chargers.

Or they find them and Bill would rather draft Jordan Richards

No I'm saying other teams can mine talented WRs why can't NE?

It's sad shopping at thrift store for WRs.
I think it is more complicated than that. The problem is finding receivers that can grasp the NE playbook. Plenty of very good receivers can thrive if they only have to run a single route on a play ( e.g. run a 9 (go) or a '7" or a "5" or a ten yard out route) but can't grasp what to do in a multi option play changing the play if it's man or zone ( e.g. Ocho cinco or Galloway). Guys (veterans) like Gordon and Amendola can pick it up quickly having been in a similar type offense but it is difficult to tell if a college player will grasp it...

When the Patriots found Deion Branch and developed him in the system, it made all the difference. But we haven't done that but once in the ensuing years, Edelman, and we've never ever had a homegrown deep threat. It's been 18 years and Brady has only played with a deep threat in 2 1/2 of those years (Moss and Cooks).

The only thing that’s stopping that team is injuries. Short of that, they’re tea bagging the Patriots. Payton should get on his knees and blow his scouting department over that 2017 draft.

That's a very big part of the point, injuries are part and parcel of the marathon. Both getting guys back and/or losing them. There a crap ton of football left to play. Payton and Brees should also dope slap Loomis et al for the years he wasted through inept cap management.

Hopefully we'll have a better record then both of them. Still have games left, anything can happen.

I think Brees is showing how great he is, BUT... stats are not necessarily a reflection of individual play. They are as team-related as wins. Plus, Brees has played most of the games of his career in domes. This is Brady in domes as of the end of the 2017 season:
  • Brady in a dome: 67.4%, 8.64 YPA, 6.9 TD%, 2.62% INT, 106.42 rating

I'd buy that if the Pats had a habit of letting go of high draft pics that couldn't figure out the system and lite it up somewhere else. But that never happens....

Bill has never valued receivers. He thinks that they are all the same for the most part

Brees in a nice cozy dome huh?
How about our boy in real weather? TB's Stats in this game.

Chargers lose! This is helpful

Thought I noticed a an intermittent red glow coming from the WSW, must have been the national media pumping their brakes on the Chargers.
