i also think pats need a leader/clutch player on offense. They are all playing hard and have decent talent but there isnt one edelman type guy who can rally the troops and make critical plays. not sure who is the guy on the sideline giving it to the offense to get its head together.

An Impassioned but flawed speech.

Here's the thing. Nothing you say is wrong per se, but 80% of NFL games "are there for the taking" in the 4th quarter. Why is you COUNT the games that are lost in that situation and DIScount all of those that were won. Well Bill once DID say, "Players win games, coaches lose them.
Most games are lost not won. We qualified Sunday.

Probably feels like he lost the game for the team with his toe-tap failures, especially the last one. Dwelling on it. Shows he cares. I think he might blossom into something with time.
That will bear out in the next couple weeks. Does he have the mental approach to pair with the physical gifts? The great golfers' mentality of "on to the next hole"? We can all hope so as he definitely showed the ability to get open and catch the ball.

Reiss with some key points. Boutte over JSS is interesting. I thought both sideline throws to Boutte could have been completed to a more experienced WR. Is team quietly managing injury to JSS? Something else? Many are high on Boutte but he looks pretty unrefined to me. Something to watch.

Hopkins would've made that catch.

The QB was late with the throw; ball should've left his hand the instant Douglas & his man vacated the target space.

I also thought he had 10 yards with a come-backer on the left side when Booty had his man turned-around at the route point.

Yeah, getting open and catching the ball are the hard parts. Most guys don’t even get that far. Cleaning up the toe taps should be comparatively easy.

NFL should allow more contact in secondary and also one foot inbounds should be a catch. A good trade off to keep the offenses moving while letting the defenders play. The game would have more natural rhythm and less subjectivity on penalties.

Respectfully disagree; I feel two feet in-bounds at the catch point is the way to go... I'm also glad that the league did-away with the "But it would've been a catch if he hadn't been pushed out-of bounds" rule.

There should be other ways of allowing more defensive contact beyond 5 yards without having to compromise a different item of game play that the league actually has right for once... For instance, I've always felt that some serious thought should be given to expanding the defensive contact boundary to a 5-yard Minimum and a Maximum of the Line to Gain...

I see we have another mensa member in our midst....
when you have chances to win games you need to seize those chances. Sunday the Patriots had two amazing shots to win a game and actually triumph in a season opener, something they haven't done since....cam newton was calling signals...in 2008 the Patriots lost 2 games by a field goal...tell me, what would've happened had they won either of those games? I'll answer for you - they win the division and host a wildcard game.
this isn't a discussion about Bill the coach; this is a discussion about how t they really needed to win that game because it was there for the taking, and based facts, one game is a massive factor in a teams' success - make playoffs vs not making it; homefield vs road, bye vs no bye...but apparently it's all fine and dandy to lose on Sunday...
You're a very tortured fan, FCB. I really believe that you're a fan, but you can't take it when the Pats win or lose. If they won, they should have done better. If they lose, everyone or almost everyone sucks. I waited over 40 years for them to win their 1st SB. Since then, they've paid me back royally for my loyalty. But even if they had never won, I'd still be their fan. I've actually enjoyed the ride immensely. Fan is derived from fanatic, it doesn't have to make sense, or always be like getting a root canal. Peace, man.

If the favored ones disagree with you then you're a troll dontcha know
Nah, captain, if someone is a troll they know it, or they're oblivious. Being critical doesn't equal troll. Trolling is like pornography, you know it when you see it.
