We could win the superbowl with Jimmy Garoppolo

Does that mean BB wants Tebow back?

not even 2 full games under his belt and people are ready too call him Goat Jr or Goat 2
I think he's special, thought so when the Pats drafted him. What we saw from him vs. Arizona and Miami is no fluke.

I liked what i seen but the season is gruesome, 16 plus games long, at a higher level

Sure, he played great from what i seen, but not good enough to trade brady now

Jimmy has done amazingly well. But it's been a very small sample size. Every QB is going to struggle at some point.

Also bear in mind that Nick Foles caught fire in his second season when he took over the starting job, averaging 258 yards per game (projects to a 4,000 yard season in 16 games), 64% completion and 26 TDs to 2 INTs. Guys can get hot, and stay hot for a while. But that doesn't mean they're future HOFers.

I like Jimmy. I am not saying he's the next Foles. I'm just saying people need to pump the brakes a bit here. He's still only started 2 games in his career. They've gone amazingly well, but it's still only 2 games.

But I do agree with the OP. I do believe we could win the Super Bowl with him. Heck, we won one with some JAG 6th rounder in 2001...

No need to trade Brady now, hopefully never. I think they need to find a way to keep Grop when his contract ends after 2017, though.

I just dont see keeping both, if they are both playing at a high level

I am not saying Jimmy is great based on 6 quarters of play. I am saying that this team is strong enough and he is a good enough QB, that we could win even if Brady was injured. Other than Bledsoe, I have never felt we could win with our backup quarterback.

Last backup quarterback I remember making noise in the playoffs was Jeff Hostetler. Others with better memories may have other examples.

It is just a very unique situation to have a strong enough team and a strong enough backup qb to compete if the starter goes down.

And yes it is way over projecting, but that is what fans do on the boards so others can say pump the brakes.

I feel quite sure every fan on the board wants this one for Brady and wants to see him at the helm.

But for the first time in our dynasty era I feel we have a quarterback we could turn to and still win the superbowl. Every other year I felt if we lost Brady, then the superbowl was lost.

Now we have seen Garoppolo for a few preseasons and we know his opening play will be pock marked with some inconsistencies not seen yet as his game develops. I am particularly worried about the number of tipped balls and if a defense like the Texans that has great length up front could strategize for tipped interceptions. Garoppolo I think has gained a lot of confidence from these early games. If called upon that is so important for a qb. He benefits from what I think today is the best team we have ever fielded. Time and injuries of course will tell the tale if it is. Well 2004 was pretty stacked.

He won't play this Thursday because he could end up being our most important player winning the superbowl. For all those fans who salivate over his pick worth, what would it be if he replaced an injured Brady and won the superbowl.

Just for the record, I don't think my typing in the internet will jinx Tom. I want Tom to win the superbowl as the starting quarterback. So long as it looks like Tom can play I want him as our quarterback.

Never lace your moonshine with antifreeze even if that's how they do it in Arkansas.

Want Tommy Boy to win #5.
After that, JAG or Obi-Wan Jacoby can rack up as many as they want!

Yup.....win this year and ride off into the sunset on top with all capacities in place

And then, as Hendrix sang 'let jimmy take over'

Jimmy G has certainly given us reason to believe that he just might have what it takes, BUT seriously, he has played less than 2 games. There have been way more QB's that have flashed only to fizzle than those that maintained consistency at a high level over a season, let alone the playoffs. It's a brutal league. I'll just hold off on the Jimmy G kool-aid for now and keep my TB12 juice chilling for week 5.

If I had to guess I'd say yes but that says just as much about the other 52 players than Jimmy.

This offense when fully healthy will be damn near impossible to stop as long as they line blocks reasonable well. I do believe the D is better than they have shown to this point based off last year. STs seems better too over all.

This assumes the Pats get home in the playoffs as i feel the NFC is pretty weak this year. If the Pats get to the SB I think they win it and if they get HFA I think they hold off the Steelers and Denver and other teams even with Jimmy G and assuming he gets a little more experience between now and then.

five quarters of football

Agreed. I mean, Robert Griffin? Kaepernick? I'm enjoying Jimmy's performance, but let's be real: no teams even have sufficient film on him yet.

Jimmy had been playing great ball up until the injury no doubt about it. But the more tape defensive coordinators have on him the tougher it would of gotten throughout the season. Not saying he wouldn't be playing well just don't think it would have been as easy as he and the team were making it look.

Plus I'd rather see Brady winning a SB.

That would be wicked pissah, but I think Tommy Boy wants to play too much to walk away.
And after these 4 weeks I bet Gisele has changed her opinion & wants him to keep playing.

yeah, but there will come a crossroads where Brady still wanting to play football may not be the best big picture for the Pats........when? who the hell knows

Jimmy has shown great skills for his position..arm strength, accuracy, comfort in the pocket, ability to read and adjust to defenses. Can he be consistent over time is one question but another question is...does he have the toughness?

90 minutes of football can be deceiving, though I hope not, in this case.

The list is long of bad quarterbacks who started off looking like can't-miss stars. Matt Flynn recently. Going way back, Scott Mitchell won a huge contract after subbing for in injured Dan Marino and was bad in Detriot.

It is that Garoppolo gives the confidence that he is good enough and the team and the coaching staff is great enough that we can win even if Brady is hurt.

Now there is a long season ahead and no one won in September. Injuries, funny bounces of footballs and a capricious commissioners office could intervene, but today our prospects for a backup qb and the depth of our team look rosy.

Not that I think it reflects on Garoppolo at all, but with the attention to his injury it shines a light on just what a tough son of a ***** Tom Brady is.
