My top choice is McCown but again knowing he might leave for a HC job I'd make sure to bring in Udinski(vikings qb coach) too so there isn't another adjustment down the road. And for DC Terrell Williams. Both names were dropped by Albert Breer on Zo&Bert earlier BTW.

I called them both!! And i guess Breer knows a thing or 2 as well lol

I kinda balked at this but I went and looked it up and Wikipedia reminded me Sean McVay was hired as the Rams HC at age 30, so I guess you're right. Only 2 years off. Granted McVay was a bit of a special case... but it's possible.

McVay- came with history. Always grew up with interest to coaching.so far more advanced at age 30.

Sure - but if Udinski is very successful for 2 years and makes Maye a star, he will get buzz for openings. Teams will say "Well McVay got hired as an HC at age 30, why can't this guy work at age 30?" Etc.

Why take unnecessary risks when you don't have to?

We just did take a risk in hiring a 1st time HC which flopped.

We also took a risk by keeping the head of personnel who has never rebuilt an organization and the jury is still out on him

We just hired a coach which was a HC for 6 years, has winning record and has been to the playoffs 3 times in 6 years.

How about we hire experienced coordinators and coaches who have a strong track record of success?

I actually think there's a little more value in going with an unproven OC, because that's where you end up finding many diamonds. Retread OCs generally have a ceiling. Fortunately, Vrabel is experienced and has worked with good OCs before so he knows what a good one looks/sounds like. If one of these younger unproven guys is saying all the right stuff, has a good plan, and proves himself in a thorough interview then it seems worth taking a risk. You'd still want to plug some experienced guys into the staff under that OC.

McVay was named OC for Washington at age 27 and head coach of the Rams at 30, so it is not without precedent.

I wouldn't use the term, "value" but rather "upside".

Fortunately, Vrabel is experienced and has worked with good OCs before so he knows what a good one looks/sounds like. You'd still want to plug some experienced guys into the staff under that OC.

It all depends on how much babysitting Vrabel wants to do with the OC. LaFleur was an OC w/ the Rams in 2017. He did well. Smith was his understudy and was new to the position but Mike had confidence in him and he did a good job. Downing was an OC w/ OAK first but did not fair well and Vrabes fired him. Tim Kelly was OC w/ HOU w/ Vrabes and by then the talent on offense was gone.

History tells us Vrabel will likely want someone who has been an OC before.

I heard today (Nick Cattles?) that AVP coached Maye and Brissett, but that Bob McAdoo coached Milton.

Really interesting.

I wonder if we retain any of them or all 3 in some capacity?
I mean both QBs looked really good, if we can bring in a better play caller, play designer that is all that’s really needed.

Nice in theory, but then we would be approaching Too Many Cooks territory...

Vrabel needs to figure out - and quickly too, not this snail's pace crap - which if any of the 3 to keep, and in what capacity, and which of them to let go... Maybe if AVP agrees to be QBC-only; but where does that leave McCartney? And does anyone really know what contributions Ben McAdoo made while he was collecting his checks?
