Vrabel fired in TN!

Dude, take a breath. He's been here for 25 years. He was here as a DC before that. He won 6 super bowls and is the winningest coach in franchise history. If they're moving on, they're not doing it immediately without a carefully crafted plan. They want to welcome him back for a red jacket fitting and be able to feature him on marketing materials. They WANT to be respectful to Bill Belichick, and they should be. There is nothing embarrassing about this. What's embarrassing is fans thinking that this should just be treated like the Falcons firing Arthur Smith. Just make the announcement and tell him to **** off. He deserves better, and as I said, there is NO advantage to him being gone within two days of the regular season ending.
You're misreading this.

The noise about compensation and trading him is coming from management and the Krafts.

The bestbthing for all of them is to make the decision immediately.

Belichick is not incentivized to do anything for the Krafts as they send him out the door.

If anything, that screws Belichick over.

He's getting fired.

As for "plans" and "consideration," the Krafts had since the Germany game to formulate a plan.

The one that gave up on the player that was the most instrumental in getting to and winning that Superbowl. After he was gone his record sunk to 29-38.
Since their overall record is within 2 games of eachother this is just you twisting facts for your agenda.

Shouldn't the team be focused on hiring a new GM first?
Then he can work on hiring the HC of his choosing.

Bb is staying.
I agree. Word on the street is the Krafts don't want to eat BB's 25 Million contract. I also don't know why they would bring back Vrabel when they went out of their way to keep Mayo.

Hiring a GM should be easy. It's an acid test: find the GM that wants BB to be HC. Any GM that doesn't isn't worth having.

Speculation on the street is about as useful as a Felger fart.

Agreed. Order of operations should be:

1) Hire a GM

2) GM/Ownership hires a coach

3) New HC hires coordinators

4) HC and coordinators fill out coaching staff.

5) After the draft, GM revamps front office/scouting department to fit his vision (teams don't usually change those out pre-draft, because so much work has already been done throughout the college season).

Apologies, I may have missed some reporting, so if I was making some leaps with your argument it was unintentional. I meant no disrespect to you as a poster.

I hadn't heard any reports about the Krafts definitely trying to trade him or rework his contract. Only speculation which I don't ever take all that seriously. Again, may have missed something concrete though.

There's nothing concrete. There's a whole lot of fire.

It's taken as a given that Kraft is trying to trade him. Tedy Bruschi spoke at length about that this morning.

Ideally, but Vrabel checks all the boxes for HC of the NEP. There isn't much time to mess around with in this case and I think Vrabel can be hired first.

Total shock from everyone down here, no one was expecting this. Must have been something that happened behind closed doors. Crazy

There are more than a few ironies or contradictions in the known decisions made by the Krafts. It doesn't sound to me like they've got their **** together at all. It could be as simple as RK and JK trying to appease each other, but they don't seem to be on the same page. They need this time to get their minds right. A week may seem too long or too fast depending on who you are, but they need time to recalibrate.

I’m in agreement with you. Belichick isn’t the future, but neither is Josh, Pioli or any of the othe retread names being float about. That’s where my question came from. If you’re just gonna get the gang back together again, why not just keep Belichick? He has great working relationships with those guys. Create a 3-5 year plan if you have to and be aggressive with it. Bringing the old gang back together puts you on a 2-3 year plan imo. Belichick would be your best option for that 2-3 years.
fair enough

But, there are issues with Belichick that Kraft may no longer being willing to overlook. Insisting on Patricia and Judge would still happen. I suppose Bill could be expected to eat humble pie and actually answer to Pioli or whoever, and do what his boss says. If that were true, then Bill should stay. If that were true, Kraft should have acted before the 2023 season.

Serious Q. Who is/was that dude in the famous Logan Airport pic?

Would be a chump move for Kraft to back out of the promise he supposedly made to Mayo for him to be heir apparent. Mayo did his job and did it well this season.

What is all the noise about then?

To me it's absolutely zany that they would keep a coach like Belichick (or any other coach on) while considering other people.

No NFL team does that.

This is honestly embarrassing.
???

Have you ever made decisions at a business?

Of course, it is useful to know your options before firing the incumbant.

Let's say, for instance, that the Krafts want Mayo as successor to Bill. If they know that, then there's 100% no rush to throw Bill out and damage the relationship or the brand. They already have the next guy. What's to stop them from having a "the king is dead, long live the king" moment? Announce the parting of ways with Bill one minute and Mayo gets promoted next? Maybe not same press conference, but something like that.
