Vrabel fired in TN!

Old school for the patriots is the best franchise in the history of the NFL.

Actually, Lombardi's Packers might have a claim to that title. You want a head coach who will build a team like Lombardi had in the 1960s?

You guys are trippin calling for Bill to get fired for Vrabel.
Why? The man is 71!!! 71!!! How much longer do you keep him? He's shown he has no patience for rookie QB's so were supposed to keep cheering for recycled has beens with no real shot of winning it all. Let me ask you this: Can you honestly say you believe the Pats will win another Super Bowl under Belichick? NO!!! So why not go with the 48 year old coach who also happens to be a fan favorite here in NE.

I still have some skepticism about Vrabel, but this is light years better than a few hours ago when Titans fans were insisting that they’d get the third overall pick for him.

He just may want out of the college game with the investigation looming. Leave like Pete Carroll did at USC.
Jim McMahon to the Cheatriots have a nice ring to it.

The lack of news tells me they are firing Belchick.

But--they need to do it ASAP.

There is no reason not to do it immediately if you've decided that's what you want to do. This is insane.

Someone needs to bring Kraft to his senses.

It's been two days. They can't even interview all the candidates to replace him until next week (assuming there's at least one candidate they'd be interested in that's currently on a playoff team). I think having meetings and parting ways in a respectful way is more than justified in this case. Doing something immediately is an emotional reaction, but ultimately doesn't provide any benefit to the Patriots.

They can actually interview Vrabel right now.

But this is going the way of Kraft wanting to negotiate down Belichick's contract.

That's a speculative reach. And if the plan is just to hire Vrabel and consider no one else, then sure, make the move now. Is that what we want though? To put about five minutes of consideration about who to replace Belichick with? That there's no one one other teams that they might want to even talk to?

Confused. I thought Mayo was next in line if BB left. Isn't that what his "promotion to unnamed post" was all about? If I was Mayo I'd be tempted to tell Kraft to do one if a Vrabel came back over him.

Bad QB situation(s) doomed him. Not sure how much love Vrabel has for NE, those of you that were around when BB sent him off to KC as a throw in to the Cassel trade. Vrabel was very pissed about that!

Bb is staying.

Which one of the 2 also won a SB during that time span?
The one that gave up on the player that was the most instrumental in getting to and winning that Superbowl. After he was gone his record sunk to 29-38.

Maybe Vrabel more likely to go back to Ohio State and replace that loser Ryan Day.

I see it as just the opposite.

The longer we hear nothing, the more likely BB is staying, which I've believed all along.

What is all the noise about then?

To me it's absolutely zany that they would keep a coach like Belichick (or any other coach on) while considering other people.

No NFL team does that.

This is honestly embarrassing.

Taylor Lewan was live on Rich Eisen when the news came out. He said that Vrabel should go to Vegas or the Chargers. He was very dismissive of the Pats situation. He further said there was no way he'd go to Ohio State and rely on 18-22 year olds to be successful.

Dude, take a breath. He's been here for 25 years. He was here as a DC before that. He won 6 super bowls and is the winningest coach in franchise history. If they're moving on, they're not doing it immediately without a carefully crafted plan. They want to welcome him back for a red jacket fitting and be able to feature him on marketing materials. They WANT to be respectful to Bill Belichick, and they should be. There is nothing embarrassing about this. What's embarrassing is fans thinking that this should just be treated like the Falcons firing Arthur Smith. Just make the announcement and tell him to **** off. He deserves better, and as I said, there is NO advantage to him being gone within two days of the regular season ending.

Would've heard by now if he was staying, IMO. If only for the nervous staffers.
