Vick accepts plea deal [merged]

Well, Patsfan-NH, what do you have to say? Goddell just announced that Vick is suspended indefinitely without pay because of his actions.

Is that good enough for you? Or do you still want to believe the NFL isn't going to do anything?

Go to ESPN and listen to Roger Cossak explain whats happening...very telling. It looks like he is going to flip big time. I would not be surprised if he ends up with 20 bullet holes in his SUV one morning, this is getting crazy.

OK, indefinitely is very indefinite. Goodell states that the status of Vick's suspension is open to review after his legal problems are over, SO, what will the suspension REALLY end up being? I would like to have seen at least a year or two specified, with his status subject to review after that. This also begs the question what Vick could possibly do to EARN consideration for reinstatement. Lots of loose ends here.

But flip on who??? He is the top dog....er sorry poor choice of words there...
he is at the top of the food chain. The only people who he could turn on were other celebrities/athletes who attended the fights. As you said, it won't make him the most popular guy in or out of prison and could have negative ramifications... for him.

First off, Vick is NOT the top guy. He may have been the top guy in Norfolk, VA, but I'd put MONEY that the dog fighting is country wide and that there are going to be a lot more arrests....

That's for sure. CNN had a story with a guy who's a
so-called dog fighting expert say there's 40,000 people involved in this. I don't quite understand how he got to plea w/o admitting to all the facts. The gambling. Unless he's flipping cartwheels and the feds are letting him slide for that or had little evidence to support those charges.

True but there are not all connected. If you take down one drug lord, it doesn't mean that he has information on all the others. As for alot more arrests, I'll take a wait and see attitude.

The Feds didn't let him slide. Roger Kossack said today that his sources told him they had 20 additional witnesses lined up to testify against him at trial. He plead guilty to the top count on his indictment. He was never indicted for "gambling" per se, but he was indicted for consipracy to operate an illegal enterprise (dog fighting) across state lines. Gambling is inherent in that enterprise, and all of the parties were required to allocute to the fact that had the case proceeded to trial the government could have proved that (i.e. we did it). He was never going to get more than 5 years at trial unless they superceded the indictment. He was never going to get more than 12-18 months if he pled. He will get that although he MAY get credit for snitching on others the Feds can reel in as a result. That's a decent tradeoff considering he gets nothing unless he makes good as a snitch, and that could get him blackballed within the league...or worse.

Indefinite covers him before sentencing, which could be months from now, after sentencing while he's incarcerated, and after he's finished doing his time (which could yet include state time in VA or elsewhere). If he suspended him for a year or two he could be back this time in 2008 or 2009.
