Vegas' 2024 Over/Under Win Total for Pats: 4.5

Pats are +2500 to win division

I'll take the over, last year the Pats lost 5 games by 5 points of less with a crappy kicker and a woeful offense.. what I have seen so far is encouraging and all indicators point to a better season than last year.
You could say that for a lot of teams. Most games are within 1 TD. Also teams play down to competition level when not threatened.

That said I would take the over.

It is spot on for many reasons:

1. Inexperienced first year coach who has never even been a coordinator
2. backup qb as starter, rookie as backup
3. No # 1 WR
4. Potentially weak OL
5. New OC and new DC
6. tough division and conference

Take the under
I'll tell you why I say over:
1) new QB either Brissett and of course Drake is a better option than Last season.

2) Same defense being ran as when Bill was here with continued continuity with covington now DC in wich players raved about!

2) last season we lost 13 games wich were all on the offense. Turnovers on the read area, ect.

4) defense is ready made and can hang with the NFLs most potent pass attacks. They are built to stop those offenses.

5) Mayo's a new HC, not a coach that was in another organization trying to learn all about the culture and organization. He's got a wealth of knowledge from Bill and it will help him become a great HC.

6) Drake, Drake will be the guy that brings this team back into contention.

I'll take the over as well. There's gonna be a honeymoon period like the Raiders had.
Agreed. I never thought I'd see a bill coached team get worse as the season went on instead of better last season. I like the changes made all around. Call me an optimistic fan.. but I have more faith in uncertainty with a talented QB than what we saw last year.

If the offensive line comes together, take the over. That's what I will be watching at training camp. The QB room is better and the skill players are good enough to get this defense the points (and time off the field) it needs to keep them in games.,

Take the under 9.5 with the Jets. If Aaron Rodgers plays more than six games I will be shocked,

Same.

I don't think they'll be in the post season, but I think they'll be much more watchable and competitive. .500 is where I am thinking. I think they'll be able to pivot in offense and cover up weaknesses much better.

I think this teams going to suprise alot of people and be a team no one wants to face come down the stretch. The majority of the problem was offense all around. With this defense and stability at the QB position I like thier chances.

This is true if the Offense late in the season can score 15 points a game.

It’s a very hard team to evaluate.

Yes, it is hard to erase the game in Germany.

We did end the season scoring

This is enough for teams to fear us if the Defense is the top 5 to 10 Defense we expect them to be.
Agree. I believe the uncertainty surrounding the team plays into thier hands. No one is expecting them to do anything. The Germany game wow what a debacle. I really would like the team to extend my guy peppers.

What we do know is. A excellent Defense, the QB of the future in Drake. The QB works out like we all hope then this team can go to great heights

Fearing the Patriots is not a term I would use, but if the offense can average 21 ppg or better, they'll present a challenge. I will beat the offensive line drum here and elsewhere. I like the skill players on offense overall, and am excited by what we've seen from the rookie receivers. The offensive line does not give me confidence that Brissett or Maye will have the time they need to sustain drives and put points on the board.

To me, being competitive game to game is more important than the record itself. I think it was Detroit who had a season where they lost a lot of close, competitive games followed up by a season where they established themselves as a playoff team. That is what I am hoping for next year.

The over is the smart bet. Doesn't mean it will happen but betting the over statistically is the play.

Only 2 teams since the 17-game schedule started have been ranked top 10 on defense on football reference and did not win at least 7 games. Both those teams had one of the worst offenses in the league that year.

I went back to 2018 and not 1 team with a top 10 defense and an offense that scored 300 points finished worse than 7 wins.

The question is, does the defense go backwards without BB? Or will it climb into top 10 with the injured players back and an improved offense not putting them in bad field positions and not having terrible time of possession?

A top 10 Defense and an offense not in the bottom 5 is almost guaranteed 7 wins. Patriots had an all-time bad offensive output last year.

Odds heavily favor the over and if they deem Maye good enough to start day 1 it'd be a no brainer bet. I'd wager heavily on the over then.

I'll take the under on that!

We should be happy if Mayo turns out to be a decent NFL head coach.

Chances are he won't.

Well everyone is entitled to thier own opinion. Bills for example his HC tenure didn't look so promising until he came to NE. RK was laughed at when he hired bill.

RK didn't make his fortune by NOT making smart decisions. I'll take RKs decision to hire mayo over anything, and I'm confident saying Mayo/Drake are tied together to thier success is what is going determine alot.
