According to the reports, he got $40 million guaranteed and there is no "balloon" in the final year. In fact, the final year is less than the average annual value.Do we (or more importantly Butler) know what's been reported about Gilmore's contract is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth? I worry that Butler is getting freaked over something that isn't entirely true. It wouldn't be the first time an agent (in this case Gilmore's) put out contract numbers for his client that were, at best, misleading. Or at worst, total BS.
Does Gilmore's "average" include tons of incentives, and a best case scenario? Does it include an obviously bogus bonus year(s) late in the contract where it balloons all of a sudden to a ridiculous amount, where he and the team assumes he'll be cut or restructure? Those would drive the average up on paper, but it doesn't mean Gilmore will get every penny initially reported by his agent.
It was a very un-Patriotslike contract - not that I'm complaining.
