Re: ** Updated: Walsh now meeting with Goodell

The Pats also taped the offensive coaches sending in player substitution signals.

I agree that Schlereth is a moron, but the Pats taped on both sides of the ball.
Schlereth was saying they got the INTs because they knew what routes were coming. That is all done over radio.

Re: ** Updated: Walsh now meeting with Goodell

I don't give a rat's ass what the fans of other teams think. I also don't give a rat's ass what people who are too stupid to think for themselves end up believing about this because they get their opinions formed by ESPN's braying asses.

I'm a Patriots fan. The team I cheer for has won 3 Super Bowl titles this decade. I'm far more concerned that the team has missed 2 Super Bowl victories it should have had than I am about something as meaningless as this press conference and Trey Wingo's idiocy.

then we disagree. i do care what folks around the country think about an organization that i believe in deeply. but, i respect your view and wish i could feel the same way.

Re: ** Updated: Walsh now meeting with Goodell

All right, guys. Mike Fish is now on Sportscenter - he'll clear things up for us in a fair and objective way.

yeah, he'd have to find it first...

Re: ** Updated: Walsh now meeting with Goodell

This is all very boring. When does the season start? I think I'll go have some lunch.

Why are you letting other people influence your feelings about your favorite NFL team?

What he said.

No sh!t sherlock. If you are listening to anything that Schlereth says, you're as much of an idiot as he is.

And it doesn't change the fact that the Pats were taping the player substitution signals on offense. I KNOW its not taping the play calling. I never said it was.

Re: ** Updated: Walsh now meeting with Goodell

Just noticed that Tomase has not been updating his blog at all, last item was a charity golf tournament hosted by Randy. After his Super Flub, he's been downplaying this event like it's not even happening. He must be pretty close to being let go from the Herald.

Re: ** Updated: Walsh now meeting with Goodell

As if more proof was needed that we're a style over substance society.

Re: ** Updated: Walsh now meeting with Goodell

whoa and i've got a bridge in brooklyn to sell you if you don't believe that media perceptions become reality in the eyes of most viewers unless they are challenged. we're not talking about defending the truth about the taping, we're talking about taking on the lies that are being told. if you don't do that in today's media environment 24/7, you are toast. the high road in that environment is the road to destruction.

Right...because reactionary denials really endear you to the public and media and make you look so innocent. Grow up. The Patriots response to this has been the right thing to do from the start. You do not go back and forth with the media in order to defend yourself from detractors or the public. You state your case and then you stick by it, without making an already overblown issue more overblown. *****ing to the media and feigning innocence are tactics that players and agents disgruntled by their contracts or in trouble with the law take and look how much sympathy it gains for them. Hopefully, when cooler heads prevail and the league decides that this is over, people will look back and take the whole affair for what it was. Until then, dealing with a sensationalist sports media is just par for the course.

Re: ** Updated: Walsh now meeting with Goodell

Schlereth's latest evidence of corruption is that the Patriots used motion offensively.

Re: ** Updated: Walsh now meeting with Goodell

Just about to start - this is worse than the Superbowl and only freaking Goodell can save us.

I have a headache.

hahahahha. Was just going to mention that. Now every adjustment is sinister. Well, guess we're never going to stop cheating.

My favorite was Palaontonio saying that it was focusing on the coaches signals as if it was breaking news. Then Schlereth said "great point."

****, someone's on the defensive this morning, afternoon.

Re: ** Updated: Walsh now meeting with Goodell

GOOD...we had an attorney there representing the Patriots.

First of all, I don't need to be told to "grow up," so keep the personal comments out of this. I've been following the team and have worked with national media for a long time. My experience is that if you don't defend yourself, you lose. This is not a rational process that is going to be decided on the basis of "ideas" or "right and wrong," as much as we'd like that to be the case. This is a political and media process, not a logical or reasonable process.
