I have high hopes but no one knows, we'll find out soon enough but I think the team this year is the best in the Mac era. My opinion only, but I like the moves they made.

You can pin it now if the team goes 8-9 again but Mac and the offense show just enough improvement then the mantra will become year II with O'Brien will be the season the rebuild finally comes to fruition. It'll just be endless excuses to kick the can.

Honestly I do expect the team to be improved but I'm not sure the record will be because everyone else in the division is improved too (Jets) or really good already (Buffalo and Miami on offense at least if Tua's healthy). Not to mention the rest of the conference is stacked with above average to elite quarterbacks. That plus the difficulty of the schedule and really the offense will need to be significantly improved to get to a playoff appearance win total.

I posted that because it's a significant part of what made Brady's legacy and the Patriots dynasty however @Wozzy only acknowledges it superficially. Great players are always an advantage. There were great players before the sacred cow, and will be long after him. It was the abundance of great players across three phases of the entire roster and their preparedness that made them great for twenty years. Tom was part of that... not separate from it.

Yeah… Tom hasn’t gotten enough credit, that’s the problem. Nobody thinks he was good. Also there were no other great players on all those 10+ win teams.

If at the end of the year, he only has two playoff appearances in a half decade (one of which with Brady) and no wins in the postseason to show for it, it’s time to rip the Band-Aid off and move in a new direction.

He’s also one of the oldest coaches in NFL history and there’s a legitimate question over how long he really wants to continue this kind of grind and be willing to put his all into it.

Now, if the team starts turning it around and becomes a contender in the AFC? **** yeah. Winning cures everything. Let him coach until he doesn’t want to anymore.
