Only time will tell my friend but I have high hopes for the upcoming season and what I want to spend my time discussing.
Just wondering, cause now you not knowing…it could go on for 10 more years. Seemed like you were pretty confident

I have high hopes but no one knows, we'll find out soon enough but I think the team this year is the best in the Mac era. My opinion only, but I like the moves they made.

You can pin it now if the team goes 8-9 again but Mac and the offense show just enough improvement then the mantra will become year II with O'Brien will be the season the rebuild finally comes to fruition. It'll just be endless excuses to kick the can.

Honestly I do expect the team to be improved but I'm not sure the record will be because everyone else in the division is improved too (Jets) or really good already (Buffalo and Miami on offense at least if Tua's healthy). Not to mention the rest of the conference is stacked with above average to elite quarterbacks. That plus the difficulty of the schedule and really the offense will need to be significantly improved to get to a playoff appearance win total.

Nah this is year 3 for Mac. It's a very crucial year in deciding whether to pick up the extension or not.

Getting it done more than anyone else when everything is on the line is the stat that stands out to me.

@Wozzy what do you have to say for Brady's 14 postseason game-winning drives (6 in the Super Bowl) and 9 postseason fourth-quarter comebacks (3 in the Super Bowl)?

This is riveting discussion

What's your stance on Bill Belichick's impact to this franchise's success vs Tom Brady's? Is that something you give any thought to from time to time?

1) points are far and away muost important

I agree, so Kraft better delay that extension on his Miami penthouse and sign Deandre Hopkins to help give this offense the boost it needs to challenge all the other teams that have staked claim in OUR AFC East

I posted that because it's a significant part of what made Brady's legacy and the Patriots dynasty however @Wozzy only acknowledges it superficially. It's a team sport but it's a huge advantage for the team when it has the quarterback with the most big game performances by far in the history of the league.

BB drafted Brady. He didn’t just appear on the lawn at Gillette...

And yeah, we haven't spoken at length or enough about Tom. He never gets enough credit.

Belichick didn't lead all those postseason game-winning drives. Brady did. 14 times out of 30 postseason wins with the Patriots. That's a phenomenal number for a quarterback. And no other quarterback in the history of the league comes close to it. It was a huge advantage for Belichick to have a quarterback that uniquely clutch. Just acknowledge it already. Your stubbornness on this is ridiculous.

Great players are always an advantage. There were great players before the sacred cow, and will be long after him. It was the abundance of great players across three phases of the entire roster and their preparedness that made them great for twenty years. Tom was part of that... not separate from it.

Way to avoid the 14 again. You're hopeless.

And "abundance" of great players is a complete stretch but nonetheless the point is Brady's the greatest of them all. Another point you stubbornly won't admit.

Acknowledging Brady's the greatest, most important, doesn't mean everyone else is useless, or others weren't also great... you have a disconnect in your brain on this.

Yeah… Tom hasn’t gotten enough credit, that’s the problem. Nobody thinks he was good. Also there were no other great players on all those 10+ win teams.

The delusion is strong in this one.

This ^ is the Brady *********** BS that we’re talking about on the site improvement thread elsewhere. There’s a whole lot of self reflection and improvement going on, you should join in… you need it the most.

If they miss the playoffs again I wouldn’t be surprised if they make a move for Bill to save face and offer him a job upstairs in the FO.

I would rather just let him coach another year or fire him, Bill overseeing someone else is pretty much the worst option.

If they miss the playoffs again, I’m fine with the team moving on. I’d give most coaches 3 years to start turning the team around. With him, I’d give 5. If at the end of the year, he only has two playoff appearances in a half decade (one of which with Brady) and no wins in the postseason to show for it, it’s time to rip the Band-Aid off and move in a new direction.

He’s also one of the oldest coaches in NFL history and there’s a legitimate question over how long he really wants to continue this kind of grind and be willing to put his all into it.

Now, if the team starts turning it around and becomes a contender in the AFC? **** yeah. Winning cures everything. Let him coach until he doesn’t want to anymore.

Agreed, in any case I hope he isn’t in that Chuck Noll/Don Shula phase of the game passing you by and the org hangs on too long. I don’t see Kraft being like that, he has high expectations,
